Mammoth this summer

Was super stoked to get a timberline summer pass but after looking into it i see they kind of ruined it so i’m tryna go to mammoth for a few weeks. Looking for any info on Cheap places to stay/ best month for riding/ just anything someone who’s never been before should know.

Summers at Timberline have never been the same since Windells wasn't... Windells.

2010-2014 was PRIME Timberline,

2014-2018 was decent

Still awesome you can ski until September some seasons, but the vibes (and price) just ain't the same.

Following because I too am considering a Mammoth trip

yeah that’s pretty much what i found from just reading old threads, spring pass still looks sick though

never been either but im considering it. pretty sure you can camp around Bishop, I might try to get a place intermittently so I can work on and off between camping. Looks like its unlimited on Ikon so that's no big deal. Also wondering what the best time to be there is.

Right now is the best time to be at mammoth. It’s only going to melt out from here until closing at end of July. In yrs past the park offering has gotten pretty lame after May, not sure if that will b the same this yr with all the snow

100%.

OP you can camp anywhere along the scenic byway that isn't already taken, or down on the east side of 395 is all BLM land. Tons of hot springs and spots to camp at that are quiet.

September skiing is done at timberline. They decided last year to end the season mid/late august regardless of snow conditions for the foreseeable future. I assume because everyone leaves after July and it’s not profitable enough to justify staying open through labor day

Mammoth seems sick honestly. They have a ton of snow. Def a good year to do mammoth. Funny that an ikon pass would get you the whole season at mammoth and a bunch of other places plus the whole summer including parks. Im interested to see how the big snow year impacts Tlines current setup. If they'll make the ftc an affordable add on again or not. The fact that you couldn't add it on to a summer pass was crazy last year. And beyond that you couldn't add it on per day either, you had to buy a new lift ticket. That price structure made no sense. If anything made people who otherwise would have bought it poach or not come for the summer at all.

I hope mammoth keeps a sick park till the end. Might as well capitalize on the big snow year. Seemed like it was a nightmare rebuilding and keeping the parks dug out. But nows the fun part.

I think Tline could us some competition instead of "we have snow in the summer l, if you don't like something fuck off" vibe they kind of have.

Public park is fun but it melts out and you have to walk, and then starts to shrink and then disappears all together. A sick place to ski for sure but if you can't access the tows ever it's kind of a bummer.

Also cool that mammoth has a couple pipes open. Hoping they keep them. Tline wont have a pipe for a couple weeks probably.

Idk I think Mammoth will be absolutely going off this year. If you can make it, seems like there's no reason not to send it there.

Hope people throw down some updates this summer. Snow can melt pretty fast in CA but they have soooo damn much. I hope it's a sick ass summer that I regret missing

TLine’s summer park prices are both criminal and embarrassing

I hope people boycott that + head to Mammoth

Yeah I just double checked. Website says same thing as last year. $124 per day for the FTC. No ability to add on to the season pass.

Wild.

Mammoth is selling single day tickets for $99. Lift ticket park. Even without an ikpn pass it's still a better deal.

Really hope their snow holds up and they keep a solid park deep into the summer

after looking into to you could probably make a solid trip for around $1500 + ikon with dispersed camping. sounds like a sick deal to me being that they keep a good park. Timberline would be like a grand a week just to ride a decent park :/

Public park is pretty fun early season. Pipe. 2 good sized jumps a few flow features and 4 lines of rails. Nothing too fancy but its a good lap. Once it starts melting out though less worth it.

I wonder if they give the camps a price break at all. Seems hard for the camps to be profitable if they're paying full price

Currently tent camping off the scenic loop in mammoth, highly recommend coming out here.

*for future reference Memorial Day weekend is hype here, I’ve come the past couple years and it’s always fun as hell*
