Which I am blown away by. Was out today, and it’s definitely getting pretty thin on all of the runs on the lower mountain. I’m thinking that’ll melt in the next few days, they’ll shift the park up to by the backside of chair 3, and it’ll mostly just be accessible skiing by taking the bottom gondy up to McCoy and starting there?

massive fan of the late season and what mammoth is doing. open daily is very impressive. gotta be almost 9 full months now?

Its truly amazing how they are still going. I give them dedication to just keep on goiing.
While most mountains would do the opposite as they care about profit's over your experience etc Mammoth keeps extending their season which is so sick. Obviously most of the mountains are owned by corporations these days so it's not necessarily their choice about decisions being made. That being said you def gotta respect mammoth for keeping the chairs spinning this late into the year.

Mammoth has always been great at having late spring, summer parks when they can. I remember the first time I rode a spring/summer park up there was in the same weeks when Tom and the 4bi9 guys were filming the zoolander edit. it's so great for younger riders to be able to progress on parks like that.

Pretty sure the longest mammoth went was August 15th, but I think that was a special circumstance and they definitely werent open daily.

Yeah I was pretty bummed with squaw this summer. Definitely could have stayed open longer but they needed to replace the cable on Funi I think. Shitty timing. That pushed all skiing over to alpine which can't hold snow as long/has no true upper mountain you can ride without coming down to the base.
still was fun skiing the 4th at Alpine.

If you go to the east of 395 you have plenty of hot springs and bears arent much of an issue, but you are farther from mammoth. If you go mammoth scenic you are closer, but no abundance of hot springs+you need to take bear precautions more seriously.
I can drop you a ping for a great spot over the road next to a hot spring. the spots right next to the spring fill up quick. but there are plenty of spots if you just drive around that area.

The mountain has been extremely fun this week despite the rapid snowmelt. Chair 23 and the upper gondola both still have some super fun moguls, just a few sharks to watch out for. Hella stoked to have some rails on chair 3 now. Gonna be here another day or 2 if anyone else is around!

I was there closing day. It was pretty cool.
they set up the tube in a pretty flat spot so you had to gun it from the chair basically.
the jump was nice. In the morning it felt kinda firm and fast and then when the sun got on it and slowed it down. Unless you were hitting it every lap it was hard to judge the speed. you could also down climb into the gully under the chair and the moguls were bomb.
overall I think it was worth the 18hrs drive from Vancouver to ski 4 hrs.
