Making up lost ski time

With the early resort shutdown (Mach 8th was the last day for me) due to COVID-19, a lot of us have a lot of making up to do with a shortened season.

Assuming that everything will open up as normal, does anyone have plans this upcoming season? Getting more pow Or ski days in?

I still want to go to Redbull Playstreets in Austria which I missed in 2019 due to work at Facebook.

Half of my school days are in class amd the others are online, so im hoping to hit the hills once eveey two days during the week

School is ending at Thanksgiving so if its cold in November and early December I'll get a couple more weeks. Ski trip west is also looking more likely than previous years.

Nice. Hoping to go the entire weekend plus fridays or Monday.

Same. I’m going to hit it hard this year.

Ski area recruiters are already calling, it’s a good sign.

I'm ready to hit it hard by the time the snow guns start going

kinda lost my job due to co-vid (work in the concert industry). so if it still is looking this bleak, I will spend the most of my time at the ski hill and do a p/t job that will pay the bills

If you’re going to be at the ski area might as well get paid.

Many of my friends, and nearly all of my roommates are musicians. I’m the rare one that has a job. It’s especially tough being in the entertainment industry now.

May have to. But kinda dont wanna eat where I shit.

yeah man it is brutal. about 97% of all stage technicians like myself have been put out of work. But find silver linings and keep focus laser tight

No set plans other than get more than the measly 23 days I got last season. It should be easier this time as I wont be traveling for Thanksgiving like i did last year or Moving at the beginning of the season. I'm moving again but it will be done before the season begins and I will have a shorter drive to the regular ski hill!

Shits crazy. I'll have a 100% flexible schedule because of Covid so in theory I could ski every day, but with the reservation system I don't know how that gonna work.

Actually been exercising better since covid so that's my making missed days up x100. This year I'll be back to that fitness I used to be of nonstop don't even need breaks- already there, but just need to sustain it and not get lazy. Just hope they get a vaccine by Dec/January or even February which could have a major positive impact on ski days. Travel will be selective and limited til then probably, unless I get covid and recover, then it'll be a race for ski days.

This year is probably gonna be my last chance to get a good amount of days in for a while so thanks covid. I'll try if I safely can though...

For sure when I’m back in Minneapolis this Christmas will be hitting elm. Never skied there but it looks sick despite having no lifts. Like the huge bowl. Last Christmas spent the entire time at buck hill and Afton. Haven’t been to Afton since vail bought it. Place is super expensive now but a lot nicer.

This year I think it will be Elm and Buck. Maybe Hyland.

Two years ago did Trollhaugen and it was ok.

Used to teach skiing 2 seasons at buck hill and 1 season at hyland. Grew up in uptown Minneapolis.

Yeah, the vail system couldn’t be more confusing. I’m more of a Ikon pass person. Might just get the mountain high pass again this year. I was thinking vail would do more for the epic pass people.

Skied every weekend plus 2 straight weeks at Mt. Hood past season until COVID.

Kinda a bummer that the season was cut short. Have new boots I bought in April I’m dying to try. Will be at Big Snow indoor ski in New Jersey (I live in da hood of LA) second week in September trying them out and making up before the season starts. Oh yeah, and I have to work in NYC after that.

With gyms closed and it being 100 out in LA it’s hard to get exercise. Was up at big bear recently for a week of mountain biking and realized that I really am not totally into mountain biking like I am with skiing. I could easily just chill in the hot tub at our condo downing beer. It was a nice break from the city.

This year will probably be a season pass to mountain high or mt. Baldy and a trip to Finland and/ or Austria if COVID goes away.

This past season made me realize not to worry about random bullshit on the mountain and just made fun and get as many runs in as possible cuz you don’t know when it will go away.

This quote will define our seasons to come.

Elm is such a neat little hidden gem. I didn't know the place existed until stumbled upon it by accident. I used to live 7 miles from there!! I make it a couple times a season to Elm as its way on the other side of the cities for me. I went to Buck twice last season once for TAFT and another time. Its nice to change things up. I'm mostly at Troll and since I will bemoving closer to that direction probably Wild now too. I've never been to Afton or Welch or Hyland.
