NO NO NO NO do not use that ever. first of all its so extremely overused its dumb. u might as well go use the song juicy by biggie or kids from mgmt to go along with this...

that *film burn* is 1. acheived when using..FILM. im going to go with a slight hunch that you do not shoot with film so its just dumb.

look, if your going to do anything..do this. when your capturing the video on your computer open up every single program on your computer and get dropped frames and shit. it would look soooo legit dude.

if you wanna know how to do it. download a film burn clip online..they're everywhere. then put it in the timeline and blend it with the other clips that are connected with a crossfade

if thats what i think it is, it should be about 10 clips of different film burns.

I'm not sure about FCE, but in AE and Vegas you just find a film burn you like and put in in a video track above your actual footage and drop its opacity so that you can see the original track and the film burn. For a transition just have some black space in between clips. For example with a 5 second burn, have 2 seconds of both the burn and the clip, one second of just burn, and the next 2 seconds of another clip.

don't film burn unless you're using film, please. other effects can be acceptable when used tastefully.

here's a link to a ton of film burns http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5J53K6FX
they are definitely overused, but i still use them. it's up to you whether or not you want to. you can crossfade like a few people said, but the way i like to do it is to overlay the burn over a clip, apply a luma key filter to the burn, and select 'key out darker.' hope that helps
