Making a Pong table...need ideas

so my housemates and I are going to make a bar and a pong table in our house this year and we were looking for some cool/unique ideas...

we play on the hockey team at our school (Syracuse) and have thought about making the table shaped like an ice rink with triangular goalie creases for the cups and stuff (but has been done many times before) as well as some other random ideas but I'm looking for some other input

We are going to have a lot of help putting this together and as long as the materials are reasonably priced i don't see any problems making some really cool shit happen.

We are planning on including lights and have the resources to cut designs into the actual table. My buddy's dad also has the stuff to make cool die cuts and stuff as well so basically anything and everything is possible.... lets hear your crazy ideas NS!
 
one of my friends made one in his dorm room and instead of building a table, they painted a single piece of plywood and attached rope onto all 4 corners. Then they attached pulleys to the ceiling and made it so you can lower it to play pong and raise it so it doesn't take up any space at all. I thought it was really creative and unique.
 
that would be cool except it would swing freely from the ceiling so if someone bumps into it shit will spill everywhere

NAH BUT SERIOUSLY PAINT SOME REDICULOUS SHIT ON IT, SO THAT PEOPLE WILL SEE IT AND BE LIKE WOW THIS GUY IS FUCKED UP/DEEP
 
do the hockey rink Idea but do it in black with glow paint and have blacklights over it.

Also, get a thin sheet of plexi to put over the top of it, makes cleanup 1000 times easier and doesn't fuck up the paint
 
get a ton of bottle caps on ebay and have a design with them my cousin did it and it looks sweet

i forgot to mention thats pretty much a given...we were gonna put everything under a big plexi glass sheet so it doesnt get ruined from the shit that will get spilled all over it.

we were also thinking about getting random 6 packs and using the bottle caps to fill in the crease area, and also making triangles on the sides of the main crease for civil war.

the black light idea is good but it gets annoying (especially having black lights on in your own house all the damn time), and also the lights that sync to the beat of the music is a good idea too, I will definitely look into that
 
Put the led lights inside the table and cover the top with plastic. That is a given but a good idea would be to set up the lights so it makes the syracuse sign. like this-

All you need is orange and blue lights and just set it up so it looks like an "S"

And maybe on one of the sides you could put a bunch of posters of Syracuse's campus. And then on the other side put a whiteboard so you can record how many wins each team has or just set up a bracket.
 
saw a sick table at some house last year. they took the e-trade logo and built a table shaped like it with every end having a set of cups, so you could have 3 games going at once.

My friend hung his pong table from the celing with ropes. Instead of a behind the back shot we would swing the whole table
 
That's what I was gonna say. Buddy had a CSU one and it looked so nice that they had dinner on it when they weren't ponging.
 
Do the hanging from the ceiling idea and to eliminte the swinging Weigh it down substantially or put hooks in the floor too then attach tit to the floor with bungee cords. I think you should paint some trippy shit all over it.
 
My friend had the idea for the bong pong table, a normal beer pong table that had a bunch of glass tubing zig-zaging laying on top of the table doing cool patterns and stuff with diffusors and perks and other things built in, and then hookah hoses that come out on each side, and then a sheet of glass/plexi to lay over the whole thing so you can actually play pong but can see the smoke going through all the tubes.
 
doing something with lights underneath a sheet of plexiglass would be awesome.

Make it fold out of the wall like one of those hide away beds. In the space created between the wall and table, make shelves. You now have a hidden bar with tons of cups, bottle openers, and room for at least a thirty.
