Make feedback essential.

Hi,never posted anything to site discussion, but after reading another callout thread, i feel it has to be made. we all know that NS is a community, where people should be friendly and honest. however, this is evidently not the case. NS offers no protection for buyers, other than the claim system, offered by Paypal.
of course, when a trade is being done, this is not applicable. here the two parties rely on the trust of one another. normally people they dont know. and normally, people who are young and inexperienced, dealing with (in relative terms) large amounts of money.
what i suggest (and i apologise for my vagueness, i do not know anything about coding/programming) is that we have a compulsory feedback centre, like eBay. people often forget to add feedback. there needs to be a way of making it compulsory. for example, a reminder being sent to both parties.
lets hear some ideas as to how this could work, because it is essential. if we do not see an improvement in the BST section, then i would call for its removal, despite the fact that i am an avid user of it.
please discuss.

As a semi respectable buyer/trader/sell i think that kids need to be smarter when making a transaction. things like phone numbers, tracking numbers, and a neglect for looking at feedback are in my eyes big causes of this poor deals.
I think kids just need to be smarter about things, like don't send the whole $700 the the kid with the "o.k" feedback.
i've been scammed before on this site and the reason i was scammed was because i was stupid about what i was doing and didn't act. just a general lack of communication between me and the seller. and there was no way for me to get in touch.

Thats very true. People need to be smarter. Some of these ideas need to be put in a more obvious place. The people on this site tend to be young, and dont know the old expression; if its too good to be true, it probably is.
Adding an obligatory feedback would make it easier for the parties to check out how 'legit' they think someone is. for example, a ranking, like ebay for all the different facets of the experience.marks out of 5 for:speed, comms, overall, condish. then an average of all of these, put on their main profile page. it might take a bit of work, btu i think it would cut down negative experiences a great deal.

We really really wish there weren't any scammers and people could just use the site for getting hookups on great gear, but theres always the few that try and ruin it for everyone. That said, we are not ebay or anything else. The only thing we offer in terms of the BST are the forums to post in, besides that we are 100% hands off. We are like craigslist in that sense, there as well there is nothing requiring you to do anything.

In the past we teamed up with a service that played middle man, and not a single person felt it was worth the small percentage of the sale to have that extra level of safety in the transaction. So at this point, it is a free for all in there, and we just hope people will be smart about their deals

fair. i guess thats that then!
as my closing sentiment, i feel a score for the smoothness of the transaction would be easy to implement, and worth doing. peoples score should then be posted somewhere obvious, just to facilitate the research process.

did something happen is this why you are making this thread or is it just cause you felt like it should be made?

Feedback isn't exactly the most well known thing, maybe a little B/S/T for dummies thread might be a good idea. If your smart, exchange facebook/phone numbers/etc. Be smart and usually you won't get screwed.

nope. all my dealings on here have been as smooth as you silk.
i was cruising the bst, and saw yet another callout thread. i then realised, that if youre doing a trade, then you are completely at the mercy of the other party's honesty. there is no paypal safety net.
im not sure anything can or will be done, as NS seems to want to keep their hands as clean as possible of any misgivings in the bst section. i thought it was a valid point to raise though. more obvious feedback section = people remembering to leave feedback = more safety and trust.
