erm..where do i start? besides getting twin tips and shit liek that. i mean what kind of tricks or whatever should i try doing to start out and waht should i be able to do before i start trying to attempt the park?
 
put in as much time as you can if you ahve a good park. i would such a better skier if i had more time to ski, so put in those hours. learn the basics, and do what you want to do. try a bit of everything too, like some rails, some jumps, some switch skiing, whatever. have fun with it.
 
if you know how to ski at all there's no reason why you shouldn't go in the park right away. but before you start doing any tricks you should do a LOT of straight airs and get used to the feeling of taking air. once you feel completely comfortable doing that, you can start doing 180s, then grabbing your skis, 3s, 5s...you pretty much get the sense of what you think you can pull off. and don't start by hitting the big jumps, practice on the smaller ones. but don't be a sissy about it, that way you'll never improve
 
good advice. also start small, realize that your just stating and you cant do a switch 7 off the bat. i believe that its also easier to learn spins with grabs right away, rather then learning the spin then having to teach yourself to grab, but that may not work for you, just find what learning style works best for you. also, im sure you go with your friends, but talk to the people in the park, snowboarders and skiers alike. some boarders will be dicks but others are chill, ask how the jumps are and stuff, etc.
 
you should start in the park on small tables and learn 3s and 5s adn take bigger tables as you go and learn rails to.
 
you will soon learn that half the people here post sarcastically. just dont tale them all seriously. and my only opinon that hasnt been stated above, cuz lots of them are serious and are correct, but i would learn 360s before 180s, unless you are brand new to skiing, cuz if you are i suggest learning to ski switch as soon as you learn normal. like ski switch half the time. i wish i learned to ski switch right off the bat, youd have such an advantage. good luck.
 
^ defiently a good idea to learn 3's before 1's

learn threes and then take it from there, they will be the backbone for sooooo many more tricks so you want to make sure you got them down.

3's took me a long time to learn, then i started practicing with my skis off on the ground, and they just sorta came. if you can do that, you can prob do it off a jump.

start with that and as it gets easier and more comfortable, throw in a grab or a extra 180 degrees.
 
if you're a noobie like me, for threes, look in my videos... that was my first three. you should feel able to spin all the way around, then try them off bigger jumps...
 
^ski basics are huge. u see alot of kids out there these days who just skied to throw trick and can hardly function out side of the park...dont' be that kid
 
get the baggiest suit out there, then brag alot about what you can do in the park, thats what everybody does!
 
yea man you can get the feel of what you can and cant do. but also dont be afraid to go into jumps with a little speed because they look big at first going into them but once you get used to it they dont look as big. definately work your way up though and definately get down the basics
 
2 kinda big things when it comes to park.. 1) start rails early dont let them intimdate you and 2) not as important is try learning to do a 3 before a 180 it just makes life easier
 
yea that guy sorta pissed me off, most mountains have parks with different levels of skill(beginner, intermediate, advanced, and some pro) if you have skiied before which i presume then yea twins are a good choice, look at some fujas,Public Enemys, line invaders, or soloman foils are all god skis to start in the park with
 
oh yeah..yeah i can ski and stuff..i started out with the normal downhill kinda thing, but i feel like i wanna progress to the park, but i wont give up regular downhill forever. i'll most liekly alternate cause i ahve fun just skiing down teh slopes adn stuff :D

btw, i have to admitt that i am sorta intimidated because i am a girl, but im willing to work my ass off thsi season to get good :P and not be a fuggin poser.
 
haha thats good that you know how to ski normally otherwise i was gonna say dont go in the park until like next year, but yah i think some of the best advice was work on just strait airs first and getting air sense thats some good advice, when i was first learning 1's 3's and stuff it helped to just go build a jump with a few friends and just try stuff, that way theres no pressure like there can be in the park at first and u can have some say on how big the jump your hitting is
 
I started skiing 2 years ago, and the best way to get good is to just go all out and try everything. My second day of freestyle skiing I could do all the rails at the canyons, even though they aren't very hard. You just have to go and try anything. But really to small tables first, then gradually go bigger. I used to snowboard, and skiing is a lot funner.
 
going big for newbs= going for a big ride in the ambulance. Take it easy, learn to get comfortable all around skiing before really testing your skills in the park. The way that I learn was to watch other people doing tricks in the park and watching how they throw themselves, sit in the park for half an hour and just watch, you'll eventually get pumped enough to try out the basics, good luck! im somewhat in your same posistion as i can do rails and jumps but still workin on the 3s and 5s but after doin alot of ground work i think this will be the season
 
start everything small man, and each season, you will go bigger and bigger until ur givin t hall a run for his money lol
