There is no single best cheese. Each cheese has it's own environment where it shines the brightest. Classic grilled cheese sandwich? Slap some cheddar on that bitch. Some yummy pasta? Some parm never did no harm. Roast beef sandwich? Swiss of course, duh. Mozeralla is at home on top of a pizza. That good good bleu cheese is a must have on any salad. Montery jack is fantastic with some turkey and mustard. Want to spice things up? Try pepper jack instead. Point is, choose your weapon carefully, each cheese is awesome but they all belong with different foods. Except American cheese, miss me with that shit

Depends on what else is on the burger, like what kinds of seasoning they put on the patty, sauces on the bun, lettuce/tomato, etc it all plays an important role. Like I said higher up, cheese is so wonderful because there are so many different kinds that go with so many varying combinations of ingredients, even within similar meals such as a bacon burger vs a black bean burger.
