Probably heading there sat/sun. Anyone know how its looking? Haven't made the trek to magic yet this year.

Was there last Thursday. Thin with limited base. Struck lots of rocks and the trees were for the adventurous.

However, they picked up 7-10 inches of dense mank and then some freezing rain on top with a pronounced ice crust. Should really help to setup a nice base over everything going forward and the snow that we get Friday should have the mountain skiing very well.

i could be going up sunday? how are the conditions and what are the best spots for woods, cliffs, powder ect.?

Heard that conditions have been great! Should be awesome this weekend after some more snow this week too.

For drops, just run Black Line, Red Line or get into the woods. No shortage of fun hucks all around the Mountain.

Here's some stoke photos provided courtesy of Ian Ray (NS Username - Bangor). I share some shots from Magic Mountain (with a Timber Ridge lifestyle shot thrown in for good measure) on 1/13/2011.

Day began with us going straight to find some fresh snow in a nice little slot. Check out those sexy pole plants and upright upper body form...

We continued to find untouched canvas' to paint with some beautiful turns down Slide of Hans with 15-20" of untouched blower.

Towards the bottom, we pulled off into a little short, but sweet section that rewarded us with numerous great turns (and a few nice nicks to our bases).

With our options on the west side of Magic dwindling, we headed east and found some slots to make a few good turns in.

With our legs torched from Magic's excellent steep 2,000' of continous vertical, we called the day around 2pm and swapped over to Magic's forgotten backside, Timber Ridge. We set out on bootpack with the skis strapped to our backs and ripped some fun turns on some low angle stuff and snagged some lifestyle photos to boot...

We nailed a strobe shot at dusk, but not sure if Ian is holding out on that one for future use, or if he was unhappy with how it turned out.

All in all, a great day! Huge thanks to Ian for documenting the shredding that occurred!

Chatted with some guys doing sled laps when we were hiking... Didn't seem to mind one bit.

That said, anyone hitting up Magic for the upcoming storm? With a good base in place, it should go off there. I'm considering Thursday if I can find others to ride with.

Skipping school Wednesday and Thursday, will most likely be skiing either Magic or Mad River... sounds like we're gonna get pounded

12-18! booya!!! definitely shredding magic wednesday because i'll most likely not have school

shredded there today. even though the storm went north or whatever and we only got like 10 inches it was sooooooooo much fucking fun. in the woods there was probably 14-16 inches or so and it was dope. such good coverage and the terrain at Magic is just so much better than anywhere else in southern VT. had a couple dope runs shredding witch and popping of rocks, catching trannys, bustin some 3s. so much fun. im shredding there for every pow day from now on.

The stop last year was EPIC. Huge storm pounded us with all that snow leading right into the event with another 8" falling the night before. Shit was going off that day.

I may make an appearance. Won't be competing as I certainly cannot hold a candle to most of the guys who will be ripping the shit out of Black Magic.

Do you know if there is age groups or if it's just an open format? Im pretty sure I cold hold my own against kids my age, but otherwise....

I emailed the guy about this issue the other day, and he said they are trying to get a junior division, but of not they are just gonna have the kids compete with adults

Likely a solid 4-8" of denser snow for Magic Saturday night. Someone better be sending Red Line and Black Magic bigtime with the new snow!

what are those runs like, I always here good things about them, bit I've never seem pics/video or a description

Let me dig through and find some POV footy from a few weeks ago that was posted over on TGR...

Here's one that gives a pretty good overview from earlier this month when Magic got 15-20" on ZERO base. First run shown is Black Magic into Black Line. Red Line is shown starting at 3:13 to the end.

3:36 and the rock jump that he skips at the end right before the cat-track are my favorite places to do 3s. always get a couple cheers from the lift haha. magic is the best
