Does anyone know of some nice back country out of mad river glen? There is some deep powder (for the east) and some cliffs off the top left (right if you are skiing down) of MOST, the trail under the single. It’s nice when there are a lot of people.

Well, Mad River is semi close to Burlington,VT, and is part of Mad River Vally, the same area that Sugarbush is in.

no mad river never gets too crowded due to the single chair. unlike stratton, who moves so many people as fast as they can with 6 packs, thew single chair keeps it mellow. and there's so much woods at mad river to ski, you can find fresh snow most always. it's the most fun i've ever had skiing.

Let's not forget Stowe...

mad river glenn, stowe and jay peak are easily the best places in the east for BC and snow (aside from tucks). They're my favorites in the east...

the only thing at mad river that ever gets crowded are the lift lines especially on the weekend the wait can be like 30-40 mins...but its so worth the wait...for some good stuff theres a very small unmarked trail off the middle of antelope that leads to some sick powder and another spot is a little past paradise, they call it octopus i think...its so crazy only safe on powder days

Jay is real nice, but the windest mountian i have ever been to. Nice bumps and glades though.

True. Haha the High Flyer or something lift by the Demo shop is extremely windy. Its worth it though when they get dumped.

the one and only time I went to mad river was a few years back, and it was a 3 foot dump day. so sick. except that yea, the trillion or so tele skiers made for a 2 hour lift line so you could only get 6 runs in for the day. i;ll be damned if they werent 6 killer runs though.

Yeah, one time when i was up, the 51 (52 dont know) mountain division was doing training. It made for a long lift line. But it was cool i went into the out of bounds i was talking about and ripped that up. Bump

ya bitches.....mrg is dope so is sugrbush...and the single line is well worth the dope pow that can be mined......if its not an epic pow day be sure to be riding with a local who can take you to some stashes tho

Jay and mrg are both sick but stowe struggles. it is always crowded with yuppie new yorkers and has huge lines.

mad river sucks...usually 3-4 hours waits in lift lines. mostly crappy ice all over the place and really overpriced tickets. do not go there. very shitty resort. they use snowmaking on the whole mtn so its always crappy man made. do not waste your time, do not come here.

^haha. mad river has the best woods. the whole area beyond paradise is sick and so is woodbox(the place at the right of the double as you get off). The fuckers wont put a park in. or even open up the freestyle team's jumps to the public. bastard mofos

just stick to killington or stratton ya know...very cheap ticket prices....most POWDER ever, possibly more than alta itself. very uncrowded slopes and quite affordable, especially the food prices. No tourists go there...ever.

Mad River is the best mountain for trees and moguls anyone who disagrees has never been there. if u wna tsick trails just go down antelope and try to find a small trail on the right on the first or second turn this is the sickest trai, the 19th hole. If ur looking for a park (and i respect that) u should stay away.

 
no mad river is terrible. you probably wouldn't want to go ever because it is terrible. stay away, seriously.

no i dont thik its possible to build bc booters there, theres not reeally any open space

i always go there after christmas, this year it sucked cause they hadnt gotten snow in a while, it was still pretty fun, octopus' garden is nice, i dont know of any other secret spots though

i went there last year with some firends and it was so much fun. they had such good snow, one of the best days skiin i had last year

I'm planning a roadtrip with some snowboarder friends. Will Mad River Glen accomodate us, or do they suck dick?

i went there in december, on a cold ass day. there was fresh snow, at least a foot deep. best skiing day ever. oh and we came across to backcountry booters. i dont know who built them but they were closed. there were to the right side of the mountain. you took the double then skied down for a little then went skiers left into some glades and there was an opening where they were built.

mad river never gets crowded bc they only sell lift tickits till there parking lot is full and its not a big parking lot

it is the sickest place to freeski on the east if you get some good pow it is just as good as out west

i am going this sunday dose any1 know how it is now?

mad river is still the shit but it is getting too much tourism, it isn't like it used to be a few years back. It used to be strickly locals, which was sick, now the locals gotta duck into their secret stashes, which they aren't guna share with u.....u should try jaypeak

there might be a few more heads there now but i dont think mad river will never be a tourist destination for skiing cuz

A.) Really slow lifts that tourists wouldnt want to deal w/

B.) No snowboarding allowed, when you think of a family thats on vacation usually at least one in the family boards

Sugarloaf is sweet now too. The only above treeline skiing in the east. A sweeet bowl and enough open space to build kickers. (when theres snow)

stowe, sick backcountry on top of gondola and quad, actually gets above the treeline so building a kicker on the bowl behind the summit at the chin is sick. But gets kinda crowded with weekend warriors, especially on holidays, its never that bad but its kind of annoying. But stowe also gets some pretty insane ammounts of snow, 325 a year.

Sugarbush-sick mountain, line sponsored park, kind of crowded but, line sponsored park.

Stratton-huge park but u have 2 take a freaking class to use it which sucks. Stratton has huge lift lines in spite of the huge lifts and gets really over crowded with weekenders. Id drive another hour 2 the central and northern resorts.

Killington- Pretty sweet cept its so damn big its hard to ski in groups and its hard 2 meet places. BUt the park is nice and their snowmaking is amazing, best in early and late season.

Jay Peak- sick snow, small lines BUt also windy and frigid

Mad River- No Boarders, Sick trees, dont go on weekends the lines are to long.

Smuggs- sucks balls go to stowe.

If u want powder and bc, id say go to tuckermans. I havent been but im heading up this spring, ive only heard good things about it

and whoever said mad river gets more snow that alta is a retard, mad river does not get much more snow than any other central vt resort, and probably has never topped 400 inches for a season, as compared 2 alta which averages 550 a year and commonly tops 600
