Macbook vs pro

how much faster is the pro and if i run final cut on a macbook would it slow it down a lot? what are your thoughts on me buying a pro vs macbook cause i wana small laptop but i want a realy fast computer that will run final cut
 
Besides processor speads, the grapphics card is better in the pro wich lots of people dont know, plus the screen is glossy on the macbook, if you care. If your going to be doing heavy final cut projects go pro. If size is the issue, go to an apple store and compare yourself, i dont think youll mind dragging along a 15 inch rather than a 13 if it meant faster rendering times and exports, smoother preview, etc..
 
would the rendering and what not really go that much faster then a macbook? if i souped up a macbook to the max would it render as fast as a pro would standard?
 
I went to the store today. The Macbook is a very nice machine- the glossy screen is only reflective from very wide angles and the keyboard is good for a laptop. Final Cut is largely CPU-driven, so the built-in graphics would have little effect on rendering and workflow. However, a 13" screen is not very big for video editing. You would run out of real estate pretty quick. The macbook does support screen spanning, so you could pick up another display to get a lot more room. So unless you want to do serious editing in the field, i would recommend the 13" macbook, an additional screen (it doesnt have to be expensive), and another 512 mb ram (about $45 at newegg). All the macs have $100-150 coupons at amazon, so check that out.
 
you can upgrade a macbook much easier and much cheeper than the pro, i am running fcp studio and it dosent slow down one bit
 
Here's why I got the macbook pro...

1. Glossy screens aren't good for true color and reflect like a mother.

2. The graphics card is integrated to the board and steals from system ram. That sucks.

3. No express card slot.

4. Screen size.

5. The MacBook is not supported in ANY of apple's PRO suite of applications. Final Cut, Motion, Logic, Shake, Aperture.
