Mac vs. PC editing

hey ns... so every year my mom makes a family ski video of our trips through out the year. and she edits on PC using Corel. and whenever she is in the middle of it the computer and software just bombs and shuts down. my dad is thinking about getting her a mac book pro. We film in only HD. and we hve a Contour HD. my first question is: why is this happening? my second question is: is there anything he should get on the mac book pro to make it perform better when it comes to editting?
 
Won't happen if you take care of your shit, i had my PC for two four years with no anti malware or anti virus software, right before i got my mac, i installed this one application that sees if theres any malware or viruses, and there was none, the only reason PC's get bad names is from dumbasses, i'm not saying that PC's are better, i'm just saying that it helps if you don't fuck up your computer
 
oh yeah sorry about that, but its mainly just the programs, you said your mom uses coral? Well, in the terms of consumer editing systems, theres imovie for mac, lol, but maybe she wants to upgrade to FCE, or FCP? thatd be a good choice
 
if your smart enough to download correct files and if your torrenting read the comments you dont normally get virus's i've been torrenting with our anti virus or any of that shit for years and my computer is like 5years old. It has its flaws but it still edits shit
