Mac help converting avi. to iso

ok, so im having trouble, i cant find a FREE program that converts to a dvd image, theres not any torrent in sight ether.

might try VLC? and import then export it?

If not this might not work at all, but I searched a couple forums and found this freeware? It was from some older forum posts though.
