ok my mackbook pro has 111.2 gigs of disk space right now I have used

110.0 HOW!!!!!!!!!! what is this stuff taking up ALL f my disk

space?!?!?! it is making my computer run at a snail pace. I need to

know were all of this trash is that has no use to me and delete it. I

have like 8 gigs of music and no movies and I guess I have a couple

extra apps but nothing ridiculous. I haven't put anything on this

computer to give it 40 gig. what is the stuff that is taking up all my

space?and were I can locate and get it off my disk.

How big is your drive to begin with? (Sorry if you mentioned that...) But you know that MAC OS X takes up space itself? I'm not sure how much but it might be part of it. Other than that go to your "home" folder and clean out anything you deem to be unnecessary.

false. you have about 19 gigs of music. i guess you just imported all your music from a drive and on your mac, then you just dragged the folder into itunes. If not telling itunes not to do this, it copies the songs into another folder and organizes it within that folder.

download a program called Disc Inventory X...it essentially makes a picture of your HD and shows you what is taking up the most space. From there you can see what you may/may not want to trash. Also, go to Utilities>Disc Utility>and repair/verify the disc permissions of your HD...that should make it a bit faster.

Grand Perspective looks pretty damn useful.
Last time I need to clear up space I just went to Macintosh HD, then clicked get info on each folder, then went into any folders that were really big and kept repeating until I just got to files I could delete. Cleared up a ton of space, but Grande Perspective looks a LOT more efficient.

it sounds like he may not have space on his compy for that,
move all your music to an external hard drive and just carry that around with you or something.

For starters, open up the applications folder and sort by space.....see if there is anything you don't use that takes up a lot of space....also open up your downloaded folder, and see how much junk is in there, probably quite a bit if you ever download anything

check for ghost files and other extensions. those will DO you in. and if all else fails just take the mac to the apple store. most dudes there are usually cool and will help you out even if your not under warranty or anything

download Monolingual (google search it)it will delete all the unnecessary languages which will save u about 2 gigs or so.delete all the shit u dont need/ buy a external hard drive

im guessing that you have a 250gb hard drive. 110 of that is programs, files, etc, and the os takes up some space, then you have the 100+ left to make 250gb. take some time and delete the shit that is worthless to you... it might take some time and some new software but it really helps.

I want to make a program called "computer toilet" that gives you the ability to dump out all the stuff on your computer that you haven"t used in 30 days or another adjustable allotment of time. There would be an icon on the desktop like the trashcan, but in the shape of a toilet. You can right click on the toilet icon and select the "flush" option to get rid of all your unused shit.
