Mac crashing randomly

I have a mid 2012 mac retina and every once in a while the screen would go black for a few seconds then come back. I moved to norway about 3 weeks ago and about a week into my move the computer started to crash randomly. im not doing any heavy editing or anything that would require much power from the computer. the internet here is horrible but i dont know why that would have anything to do with it crashing.

iv looked around a bit on the interwebs and it seems some people have similar problems but have not been able to find a solution. anyone on here have any tips or ideas?

thanks

are there any crash report dialog boxes that pop up after your computer turns back on? are there any programs running/common scenarios that cause the crash?

ive been having similar issues with my late 08 mbp crashing due to kernel error when i try watching netflix.

apple suggests doing a safe reboot then restarting once it loads correctly.

but ya iv gotten error reports with something to do with a kernel error. usually from surfing the web/watching videos on newschoolers or vimeo.

what browser?

chrome made my mac book crash randomly (at least i'm pretty sure it was chrome). I switched to firefox and the problem went away.

I had a kernel panic once-

It was when there was an update for something, can't remember what though, I put off updating for a while and kept getting the error so I decided to update and the error went away and I haven't had a problem like that since. (touch wood)

Hmm i had a bunch of issues with kernal panics (2011 mbp) and i found out i had issues with the stock drive (750gb 7200rpm) and i also noticed when I installed new ram (from aftermarket 8gb to aftermarket 16gb) i never had an issue again. I know my hhd was one issue but I also think my RAM was bad. I had similar problems with chrome vs firefox because chrome is a ram hog and i think my shit ram would cause issues. Have you installed new ram yourself?

just had sort of the same thing happen to my retina mac on thursday, wouldnt even boot up anymore. Took it to apple and they said that the flash memory in the computer had completely failed, they gave me a brand new macbook the day of.

I've had kernel panics a few times, 2010 MBP. All my programs also crash randomly. I think I'm just gonna start replacing things, like the hard drive and the ram. Diagnostics say both are fine, but clearly something is wrong. So I guess I'll have to try that.

my 2012 15" retina has had a screen flickering issue for a little while now, and then last week this happened:

I have a problem with my Hackintosh crashing when viewing certain webpages in chrome. Doesnt happen in firefox or any other browser, and when it does happen, windows simply go unresponsive. I can still move my mouse around but clicking on any window and inputting anything through the keyboard doesn't do shit (cmd + w, etc). Have to hard shutdown and hope I dont go back to whatever caused it (I think it's unique video players, probably flash. Thrasher, CNN, and a few others cause it)

yup, but only in a macbook mid 2010. iv not got the special little star screw driver for unscrewing retina comps. although i know theyre very easy to get a hold of. hopefully it was just chrome.

just had the worst sequence of crashing. it crashed then when it tried to restart it crashed again.

i tried to turn it on and i would hear the start noise then it would stay black screen. continued to try this a few times getting as close to the log in screen then it crashing. eventually just let it sit for 15 minutes then tried again and it works... i have apple care warranty. would they warranty a computer for something like this?

i have apple care but i didnt think it covered that kind of damage. i thought you had to get applecare+?

and i live in the middle of nowhere norway till Christmas so apple stores are not readily available to me...

although i will be in london for 3 days in about 3 weeks and could take it to a store there to have it looked at. but it would be crazy trying to get an appointment...

I also live in the middle of norway, in fact a buddy of mine who belive it or not ALSO live in the middle of norway did this exact thing. Did you get it at Eplehuset/elkjøp/ any local stores or was it bought in the US?

cause if it is i don't know what to do

bought it in the US. applecare most definitely doesnt cover water damage, so it was probably a store policy or something. according to the store i bought it at the same part has to fail 3 times for them to exchange computers. so they suck as much money out of you fixing it before they get you a new machine. it crashed again today. im fed up with this. im thinking it's bad ram. but not much i can do except hope it lasts till im back in america...
