I was browsing around for a summer set of hiking shoes.. I dig the Merrells, however, there really isn't too many other options jumping out at me. Any suggestions based on experience? They gotta be water proof..

i use merrel and I love then ! did Gosford before winter it was really fun with these boot def stoked on my next trip !

I have pair of waterproof timberlands, they are heavy and unnecessary for moderate hikes on warm days..

i had a pair of awesome salomon shoes but to be honest I can't quite remember the exact name. they were super sturdy, reliable and light (partly because they were 60% mesh). i had them for years and I used them on long canoe trips and they were great. after a long day of getting down and dirty you can just rinse them out in the lake/ocean/river or whatever and they dry quick. you should look into it, they can be expensive but totally worth it.
