I was browsing around for a summer set of hiking shoes.. I dig the Merrells, however, there really isn't too many other options jumping out at me. Any suggestions based on experience? They gotta be water proof..

Salomon trail runners are cash in tha muthaphuckin baaaaaaank.

or merrells if you want to look like a failed 60 year old male librarian. your choice.

i had a pair of awesome salomon shoes but to be honest I can't quite remember the exact name. they were super sturdy, reliable and light (partly because they were 60% mesh). i had them for years and I used them on long canoe trips and they were great. after a long day of getting down and dirty you can just rinse them out in the lake/ocean/river or whatever and they dry quick. you should look into it, they can be expensive but totally worth it.

I got these for my birthday last year. Seem pretty solid though I haven't had much chance to really work them yet. http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/sc-gear/men-39-s-hedgehog-gtx-xcr-iii.html

Merrell Moab goretex - best hiking shoe I've ever had. Stays dry and comfortable after hours of being out
