Lost my job due to injury

Hey ns, a few weeks ago i tore my meniscus skiing, and haven't been able to ski or work for a while. My knee has been feeling pretty good the last few days, so I called my boss to say that I was able to work again. She told me they had already hired someone to fill my spot and that I wasn't needed. I don't have enough money to last the rest of the season, and I don't even know if i'll be able to ski anyways. Should I just go home? Anyone else ever had this problem?

I assume you work at a ski resort, if so I would call back and ask if there's any other positions and that you straight up don't have enough money to not be working.

Being that he didn't get hurt on the job I don't think so. Especially if he lives/works in an at will state.

No ... Kind of shifty though, that they didn't give you a head's up. But, unless you're injured at work, no one's responsible for keeping your job for you if you can't work due to injury/mental illness. You could apply for state/provincial short term disability but whatever. Why not just get another job ? Somewhere else ? I dunno, but when I got injured, I didn't want to just dip on the lifestyle because I couldn't partake. I stuck around and had fun with my friends at apres even though I couldn't shred.

Ah that's right, I forgot that it had to be an injury on the job. Anyways, like the.hellion. said, it's pretty unprofessional that they wouldn't give you any notice.

apply for the kitchen at the nearest ski resort, they might hire you if you have experience in another kitchen

way she goes man I guess your boss is just a dick.

I blew my knee coaching kids at a kid competition but I didn't get compensation/new job cause I was only volunteering. my friend broke his tailbone coaching this year and now he works in customer service

working in the food industry is the worst. employees are seen as disposable because you don't necessarily need a ton of skills to start and there are a million and one people looking to take your spot. also the profit margins suck so management is looking for every reason to cut down on labor.

Why don't you consider this your home? Why leave the mountains every summer? Saskatchewan can't be that exciting.

Find a new job, 'cause that's what you do when you lose your job - you get another one.
