Lost motivation

Recently i feel like i’ve hit a wall. In the past i’ve felt like I was always progressing, always did something new each day whether it was grabbing a different way or spinning that extra 180 or just a butter on a new roller i’d never tried. As of recent I just feel like i’m no longer progressing, I have been doing the same tricks on the same jumps and don’t have the motivation to keep trying new stuff all the time. At home before i go up to the hill i think of all the tricks that i really want to learn and get dialed but then when i get to the hill i never actually feel like trying them. Even stuff that i do on other jumps that I know I can do, if i want to try it on something new i just never end up trying. Basically NS i’m asking that do you guys do to always keep the stoke high, anyways froth to try new stuff even if you are going to crash, stay always motivated to try new tricks and features

TLDR: I’ve although in my head I want to progress, at the hill I lose motivation to try new features and tricks and stay with the same old same old. What do you guys do to overcome this

instead of focusing vaguely on a bunch of tricks you want to try, focus on just one. otw there picture yourself stomping it and when you get on the hill just go for it until you ride it out. this helps me usually.

I’ve seen other people talk about this on the forums before. this happens to so many people and they usually get out of it. You can use this time to focus on style and try to dial in how you want to do a trick rather than doing another trick. I personally believe that this can be a productive time in developing skill.

Usually skiing and riding the mountain snaps me out of it and refreshes me. Too much time in the park can be a head game. On the bomb hole they said “the body always does what it does, it’s the mind that gets in the way”. So true.

Go rip some laps and have fun again

I kinda feel this way every January. I think it's cause January is low key the shittiest month of the season. The snow usually sucks, it's crowded, it's cold, it's dark, and you're still working off the rust from last season.

When spring skiing or the next big storm hits you will feel different

Man that is completely normal. When I was younger, there was more incentive to progress becasue there was always that "what if I go pro when im older" factor. I think that sense of wonder is the spark that drives progression a lot of the time and makes it fun to go as hard as possible. If you carry that mindset into adulthood, knowing deep down that you will never become the skier you dreamed of being, thats when skiing becomes less fun. Thats when progressing turns from something fun into some shitty obligation that you have created for yourself. Just have fun man. If you don't feel like sending then dont'! If you do then great! You will never be the next Ahall, so why pressure yourself?

Yes this. I 100% feel this way every January to the point where I’m like “do I even like skiing anymore.” By mid February all the good lines fill in, then it gets warmer and sunnier out, and then all the crowds go away late March and it’s just glorious. I never really noticed until you just pointed it out but yea I get the January blues for sure.

I'm the same way right now. It's already been said but for me skiing outside of the park and skiing with other people helps get your head out that"rut"
