Loon vs Sugarbush

Both seem like two of the more solid parks in new england. For those of you that ski there how’s the experience? If you’ve been to both how would they compare?

If the opportunity presents itself someday I’d like to move to Vt or NH so I’d probably be skiing at Loon or the bush

This is not that helpful cause I didnt ski park much when I was there and don’t ski there anymore but used to hit sugarbush and they have top quality non-park skiing (trees, bumps, shit to jump off of) for the northeast. It’s def a real fun time. Probably one of the best around for that kind of stuff. Obviously jay is great also for that and it rained there less.

that’s kinda what attracts me to sugarbush because i do love the trees and all mountain stuff to mix it up sometimes and loon doesn’t seem as good in regards to that

also OP for what it's worth, the terrain at loon is very sub par meanwhile sugarbush is in god tier for the east

I know people that live near Loon but still drive to Sugarbush each weekend with their ikon pass instead of staying home.

Ive only been to Sugarbush once and am a Loon regular, but if you're straight up deciding between the two I'd prolly go with SB.

Sugarbush has more varied and challenging terrain and I might even give a slight nod to their parks as well. Not that it really matters but I believe Sugarbush is a bit more skier orientated and Loon is a pretty heavy boarder mountain (at least in the park scene). I love Loon, but I would consider it more of an intermediate mountain? Im certainly not the best skier on here and can rip all the trails fairly easily.

In terms of actual living tho, I think Loon might get the slight favor as Lincoln is a little bit less remote than Northern VT? I love NH because I can get back to Boston in ~2hours and you're also already up in the White Mountains if you're also into hiking/climbing/etc there's tons of great stuff right there. Not sure what is around Sugarbush in terms of summer/spring/fall activities and it might get frustrating living that isolated if you dont have homies close around.

Let us know what/if you end up doing tho!

I ski at Loon regular and got about 40 days this season. Great park variety with LMP and Springboard but the rest of the mountain isn't to exciting or difficult except for a handful of trails. It also get tons of Mass tourist and gets pretty busy sometimes.

Sugarbush is trendy but overrated. The rails are small and most of them are short; there's like 2 jumps that are ok though they don't get hit a ton but if you like jumps def don't get a Bush pass. The all mountain terrain is amazing but as far as park the lap is extremely short compared to Loon. Loon had 4 solid jumps in LMP plus a large amount of rail options to chose from.

Get an Ikon pass so you get both mountains plus you will also get Killington and as of this year it is by far the best park on the east. Killington blew Carinthia out of the water this season. In the second week of April even with it being 60 since mid march Killington still had a jump that was dubable plus another one down bottom that was real large. They also had solid rail lines plus 2 other parks that were still up. They constantly change the features up as well.
