Title says it all. I am looking for a sigma 2.8 lens the whole way through, however, if you have another brand, I'm open to offers. It's for a Canon EOS mount (t2i).
May I suggest the Tamron 17-50 2.8 nonVC unit. One of the sharpest non L or zeiss lenses I've seen charts of. And for around $350 used, its a steal. Check photographyonthe.net or fredmiranda.com for one, I've seen several.
I have the Tamron AF 17-50mm F/2.8 VC.... here's a simple compare contrast of the two (VC vs non-VC, check the link below). Anyways, even with the VC (although it may not be as sharp) it is helpful for video, I love this lens.
for some stuff I have shot with it: vimeo.com/goodiepocket
found and bought. thanks for the help fellows. however, i was searching adorama today and came across the sigma 18-50mm 2.8 used in excellent condition for 244! What a deal since normally they go for 300+.
When doing my research, this was about in my price range with what I have now. Since I shoot primarily video, I figured what the heck, I'll try it out, if I don't like it, I will sell it for more than what I bought it for on ebay. I just hope the lens actually works! Most of these lenses go for about 325 on ebay. I'm hoping I bought the right model lol.
So i purchased a Sigma EX DG 2.8 18-50mm lens from adorama last week for 244. This was already cheaper than I could find anywhere (even ebay or private sellers). I got the lens today, turned out to be the Sigma EX DG 2.8 Macro version. The lens is in almost perfect condition. Glass is perfect (I bought the lens used in Excellent condition). I believe I got a sharp copy of the lens. I paid 244 for the lens. Came with a hood and soft case for it as well.
Adorama is a legit site for those looking to purchase camera gear if you didn't know. I also ordered it Friday night. It shipped out Monday and I just received it today! Great shipping and great products for good prices.
