Looking for the maximum distance Canon Lens for star photography

So I have a Canon 40D Camera and I was just thinking I take a lot of pictures of the moon lately, and was thinking I might want to get into more star photography and was thinking I Kinda want to get a lens that could also double as a little bit of a telescope. Was thinking about something like this: http://www.amazon.ca/Long-Range-650mm-2600mm-Telephoto-Digital-Cameras/dp/B00KQ3L4FQ/ref=sr_1_3/183-3460055-7223743?ie=UTF8&qid=1434734446&sr=8-3&keywords=canon+lenses+telephoto

Anyone know of any that can reach further than that lens? I want to get some really awesome pictures of stars and the moon and stuff. I have a 75-300mm lens and it seems to work fairly decent for the moon, but I want something that I can get even more detail with and zoom further into stars. I dunno if there are lenses that shoot further than the one I posted. I'm thinking I might have to try and put something together with a telescope for the pictures I want maybe.

I dunno if anyone can help me I'm just seeing if anyone has any experience with this sort of thing already.

I forget the exact equation, I want to say it's like 600/focal length, but this gives you the maximum exposure time (in seconds) that you can use without the stars blurring (due to rotation of the earth). If you want close ups at night, a tracking setup is pretty much your only. Also, don't get that lens, you would probably get better quality from using the kit lens and then cropping in to zoom (not a good idea, just saying it is that bad).

Ha. I laugh at your photographic simplicity.

Get on my level, peasant.
