Looking for some ski feedback!

Hey, i'm looking to buy some new skis for the 11-12 season. I've been searching for feedback on SFB mostly, but since they changed the ski pretty dramatically this season I wasn't sure how accurate it was. I'm also open to suggestions for any other skis that you guys have really enjoyed. I've been skiing on 07 Armada ARVs for the past 4 years, originally rode them all mountain but remounted them center and rode PC the last 3 years. I am still plannin to use these for my beater skis and will be riding them on full park days.

I am 6ft tall, 150 lbs, and an aggressive skier. Looking for an all in one ski that will be used 45% for powder (will be hitting cliffs/trees/booters), 40% park (not too great in the park, but will be hitting all the features), and 15% normal condition days (i think i will be able to charge with most skis that aren't powder dedicated skis).

I'm pretty much stuck on makin my decision but still have a month or so before i will make my purchase so wanted to get some input from the community.

Some other skis i've considered include Mr. Pollard's Opus, On3p Caylor lights, Surface Watch Life and Life Life, and another pair of ARVs. I also considered getting a powder ski and try to avoid riding park too much on them, but i feel like it would be more bang for the buck to just get an all in one ski.

Thanks!!

I think that the SFB would be a great way to go. I have always loved that width underfoot for an all around ski. They do exceptional in the pow, yet on the groomers they can charge.

However whatever you go with I really do think it will be key to go with a rocker/camber combination. If you want a ski that will be able to carve off jumps AND smear deeper snow, having slight camber underfoot will be the ticket to versatility.

Additionally, considering your weight it seems that the length of the SFB (in the 184 cm) would be a great way to go. You will still have a fairly short effective edge in the park. However, when you do get some good pow days, that entire edge will be running which will make the ski very stable and predictable.

Just keep in mind that you should always go a little longer than usual with an early rise ski. This will be very helpful while cruising at quicker speeds.

I have last years bacons and love em....got the opus this year and it's even better. I ride it as an everyday. But that may not translate to you cause it's kinda a unique style. I haven't ridden the new bacons but I hear they rip everywhere and everything....including park. A few of my friends who rode the cryptos as a park/all mountain are planning on using the new bacons for the same thing this year.

I think the new SFBs will be some amazing skis. I've seen them, and their shape is amazing. It looks like they'll be able to handle all sorts of pow, even given a waist at 108. Which shouldn't be a big deal.

If you're looking into the Live Life, go with the 191, I don't know what it'll be like in park, but I can say it wouldn't be the best. It has a medium-stiff flex under foot, with a softer shovel. Would be great for powder.

Something like the Watch Lifes would be great all around, and would be fine for your occasional powder days, along with ripping in the park.

But if you want something with that kind of shape that's going to perform in powder, look into something like the Line Blend. It is comparable to the Watch Life, but with some rocker added to it for better floatation.

I'm jealous. After listening to a few of my acquaintances, I'm really considering selling my cryptos and getting the new bacons mounted with jester pros to use as a park/all mountain/light pow ski. It's so hard for me to justify after just getting the opus though. I'm intent on using the opus as a quiver of one but I doubt I'll run it over rails or boxes. Plus I hear the new bacons absolutely rail groomers. Ugh. Plus I have last years bacons. I'm such a ski whore....haha....but I want those new bacons bad.

haha, i was originally going to go with the opus because I was planning on skiing snowbird and not hit any rails and such. but when i was buying my pass i realized since i'm only in 9 hours of school rather than 12 hours i couldn't get the college discount. Still really stoked on my decision tho, just waitin for BC.com to get some in stock !!
