Looking for some fs700 footage

Hey dudes, unfortunately my gh4 is kicking the bucket so I'm looking to upgrade. I shoot mostly skiing when it comes to video, so does anybody know of any edits shot on the fs700? preferably using a glidecam, or Ronin (if you can carry that fucking rig). I'm just trying to stack this up against something like the a7riii, or maybe even the gh5 (although I couldn't stand the noise I got with MFT).

the FS700 is an absolute beast when paired with an odyssey 7Q, but quite a large rig to carry for the quality in 2018 without a recorder and probably not worth it. Balancing one on a gimbal would be a PITA. The GH5 and especially GH5S have decently better noise control vs the GH4 which seemed it can't go above iso800, so I wouldn't count those out if you can work with m4/3 still.

The A7Riii is excellent for photos but it pixel bins if you shoot full frame video, the only mode where it doesn't is super35 crop 4K. A7iii also crops a tiny bit with 4K 30p and has worse low light performance than the A7Sii so I've always not really understood why the A7 line exists along the A7R and A7S. A7Siii announcement is supposed to be mid-October so I'd say wait for that before making a final decision if you can spare the time

i think level 1 has been using fs700's? could be wrong tho.

nah they mainly use FS7s and Josh uses his RED, Danny used an FS700 + Odyssey 7Q for shooting his angles @SuperUnknown and the footage looked awesome and held up to grading quite well, its crazy how good the Odyssey is in maximizing that sensor

I used a fs700 a bit, most of the PC shots in this edit are fs700, the rest of the edit is mostly fs100 and any edit I made in 2012-2014 is all fs100. The fs100 and fs700 look very similar, pretty sure its the same sensor.

You choose, TBH the gh5 has 4k60 and is very small, but the fs700 has xlr, bigger batteries, and 1080p240 (gh5 has 1080p180) they are very different cameras. What exactly are you looking for? You got a good deal on a fs700 or something? Honestly, the gh5 is $2k and is completely worth it, the in camera stabilization plus 4k60 is hard to beat for skiing IMO.

I remember being blown away by your FS100 work back in that era, so crisp and professional. That sensor seems like it was ahead of its time, and like I said before, combined with an Odyssey 7Q it’s competitive quality in 2018. The problem like you said is it’s huge compared to a small GH5 that’s also putting out a killer image in a far more user friendly way. I’d pick the GH5 any day over it but that’s cuz I love small mirrorless sized cameras, there isn’t really a bad option IMO
