any help would be appreciated

Threads. Planning on getting that sometime soon and I'm gonna be a complete noob with it. All I've had any experience with is iMovie haha

I was editing in Premiere Pro CS6 today, and for some reason all of the audio (particularly voices) were lower/slower during playback. Also the playback would jump and skip a little bit. However, nothing seemed to be effected after exporting. I realize it's not a huge issue, just fairly frustrating and curious more than anything else.

Have you guys experienced this at all??

^ I would presume that its just your computer struggling to keep up with the video. Are you using the mercury playback engine? what are your computer specs? The fact it exports correctly, would indicate you just cant get real time playback on your computer.

Yep its your video card, that card is not supported by the Mercury playback engine, so to get real time playback you will need to render the work area every time you want to watch it in real time. This does not mean rendering to a video, you render teh work area inside Premiere. If you use a supported Nvidia card it will do it automatically in real time.

A Nvidia card would work but you will be stuck with Mobile cards as your using an Imac.

stop talking about the mercury engine playback like it's such a necessary thing for premiere. my MBP's graphics card isn't supported by it and i can playback DSLR or normal AVCHD footage just fine without pre-rendering. His computer should be able to play back his footage pretty damn well, it's a beast (as far as macs go.)

Who cares about effects.. It is good to know some but if you're a beginnner don;t bother learning a ton of effects you'll forget anyway.First learn how to master the endless possibilities you have to cut in the timeline. Then it's important to chose the right format to edit and how to render a project.

PS:slow mo with twixtor is useful if you shot with a min 50i/p

Try using time remapping instead :)

Your correct in saying its not neccesarry but its one of the big new features in Premiere. It allows a much faster workflow, for a fairly simple upgrade. Why would you want to hold yourself back and slow down your workflow? In his case unless he has a very slow hard drive its really the only thing it could be. He has a fairly good CPU and a good amount of ram, so its the graphics card in his case slowing down his workflow.

Also if you get into After Effects, you will also be able to utilize the Ray trace render. So really if your going Adobe and want the best, you need to go Nvidia.

Both of your answers are helpful, at least now I know I didn't do something to mess it up. That being said it's a little frustrating knowing that neither Primiere or AE wont function at their highest without a computer makeover. Not earth-shattering, just off-putting. Thanks for the good answers guys.
