Looking for a new computer

Going off to college next year... Will be in the market for a new laptop in the forseeable future as this old guy is likely to hit the shitter at any time, so any recomendations for computers would be greatly appreciated.

I really do not know much about computers, but i'd like it to be able to edit well (gopro, maybe dslr/ other digital HD video). I'm really not that interested in Macs since they are considerably more expensive and i've used PC for most of my life. I imagine that I will also be purchasing an external hard drive for it as well. Ummm i think that's all, unless there's other things you would like me to specify.

try your college discount program (if available) some will let you pick any computer, and some have bundles for certain majors, but you can save a lot of money, and in some cases the school will be able to repair it/help you right on campus. Other that that, get a good warranty, you never know, and I'm assuming your going to be using it for more than 1 year. Other than that, I personally use macs, but ik that dells are pretty popular with schools, and i have heard good things about lenovo's. sorry I don't know any specifics, but hopefully some of that is helpful to you
 
macs truly are not that hard to learn how to use... and if you look for a refurbished one you could save alot of money
