Looking for a mic.

Decided I was going to purchase my own mic because im sick of waiting for my friends to be ready to record when I am. My buddy has a USB mic the Samson C01u which turned out to work really well, he got the deluxe setup with the stand pop filter and shock mount for like 120 or something. I'm assuming the USB mic is the most cost effective for a setup but i don't know much. My recording is generally hip hop and its just for fun in the dorm when we have free time. any suggestions? im hoping to not spend anything more than 120. I know I can make a pop filter outta home made shit, and we have a rockband mic stand so thats not that big of a deal. but as far as shock mounts and the actual mic whatchu got for me

anytime brother. look at the frequency response charts, look for the flattest response throughout a , 20hz-20khz range. I am not a usb mic guy. I am a live audio engineer. if you are just using this mic for fun you don't need to spend $$$$. shure, sennheiser, and blue will all make a decent mic for something cheap. have fun!

cant record your raps fast enough? cant express those angry thoughts of being a suburban white kid? whats the matter chum? mom didnt give you allowance? dad grounded you for getting a less than average score on a test? maybe you should be like every other talentless asshole on this site and steal other peoples music and jam them together in one clusterfuck of a sad excuse for a song.

Hahaha I'm sorry I have creativity and passion in life?...I'm not sure how to respond to your stupidity.

your creativity is lackluster at best.

i hope your rapping skills are better than your drawing skills.

I'm fairly certain that skill and creativity have zero to do with each other. Not to mention I drew that almost 6 years ago hahah and I'm not even that mad at it, I thought it turned out pretty good for just sketchin around.
And who are you to even talk back to me, I am your elder, respect that little boy.

audio technica at-2020
perfect for anything and for $100 it is the best bang for the buck....regardless of what you are recording.

Your NS elder, which tends to have more wisdom than your everyday elder, who therefor qualifies for that much more respect.

Another old school technique is to get under a blanket / doona (douvet) when you do your vocals. This kills reflections which can show up really ugly on a cheap mic.
