trying to get into video stuff and am looking for a HD setup that comes with lenses, batteries, everything i'd need to start filming. Sell me yours!

everyone gets +K!

sorry about that.

1) What is your budget? How much money can you spend right away, and do you think you can get more money to invest in the future?

Between $400-$1500

2) What experience do you already have with cameras? Have you ever even used one before? Have you helped your friend out with his camera? Have you owned your own?

I used to have a video camera when I was younger. The PVS Panasonic (i think). I also used to take pictures with DSLR's so I understand Aperature, Shutter Speed, and ISO ( i also understand how each affects one another)

3) What gear, if any, do you currently have? (tripod, old camera lenses, mics, etc)

Old tripod.. sold everything else years ago

4) What are you planning to shoot and how do you want to use your camera? Are you going to use this with the sole purpose of shooting skiing? or do you think you might try other stuff as well (movies, documentaries, short films, etc)

Might try other stuff as well

5) Do you want a camera that you can hand to your friends, that could or could not have film experience, and let them shoot you? or will you be doing all the filming?

Um, it will be me filming. Can be a video camera or a DSLR

6) When filming skiing, how do you tend to shoot? (follow cams, leave it on record on a tripod and hike, film from a tripod, etc)

Little bit of everything

7) What computer do you currently have/use to edit (if not currently editing, what would you most likely use)? If you can provide specifics, such as hard drive space, RAM, processor size, that would be great.

IMAC- it can handle HD video

7) What program do you currently edit on? How familiar are you with it (1- just learning; 10- I can make tutorials and know the keyboard layout)

Well, for 1500 you could get

t2i - 550?

tamron 17-50 - 350

canon 50mm 1.8 - 100

manfrotto 701 head and sticks - 300

glide cam 2000 - 300

thats about 1600 right there. you could wait on the glide cam and get a mic for like 200 bucks then save for a glide cam. You'll eventually want like a 70-200 lens and a 11-16 lens, another 1000 bucks.

OR you could get a

panasonic tm700 - 900

fisheye/wide angle - 200

701 tripodsetup - 300

glide cam - 300

you wouldnt have to buy anything else for this setup, maybe a $200 mic if you wanted.

The dslr way works well but you will always be itching for new lenses since 17-50 and a 50 is meager. with the tm700, you could zoom in as tight as a 70-200 on a t2i, maybe even more. the tm700 is a great little cam too. You have experience with dslrs, so the t2i setup wont be that bad for you to get used to, but honestly for beginner filmers, a little video camera is much better IMO. If you dont plan on shooting much other than posting up in the park and follow cams, the basic t2i setup might be okay for you.

cool, +K!

Honestly i'm kind of looking for something used, i don't mind buying used if I'm able to get a better deal on it all together. So if anyone knows of people trying to sell send them my way!

thanks
