Looking for a BMX bike: Need some help.

Hey everyone, so I'm going to college next year and I am looking to get a nice BMX bike for a graduation present! I was hoping someone here could help me with some good bike companies and maybe could point me towards a few specific bikes. What I'm looking for is a street bmx bike that is lightweight and around 400-500$. I am mostly going to be using it for commuting to classes and back, and also just rolling around campus. The reason I am not just looking for a regular bike is I will be using it in the skatepark and hopefully halfpipe a little bit (I used to bmx a few years back). Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out, I am just pretty clueless about specs, havn't looked at bikes in a LONG time and figured someone in this community is into bmx.

Get something that has a full cr-mo frame (no hi-ten crap!), sealed bearings and hubs, 3-piece cranks and double wall rims. Thats about it. Some of the good companys are Fit, Verde, WeThePeople, Untied.

i have a WeThePeople versus and its about exactly what your looking for. its one of the lighter bikes out the, has all of the good specs people were talking about above, and WTP has a good rep in the biking communtiy for sure. if you have any questions feel free dog, i looked around and got a discount code which made it like 420 bucks from dans comp.

alright, so i guess this is kind of thread jacking, but its on the same topic.im looking for a bmx bike too, and i wanted one for mostly freestyle and just cruising around. I am thinking of something around 500 dollars, but suggest anything that you think is good.

I would help you. But I'm, super happy with my bike right now so i haven't been looking at the new completes.

I'm a fan of Fit Bikes, so I would look at the Fit STR2.5. Full chromo frame, 26.5 lbs, and has brakes, which is useful on campus.

i've heard that the sunday funday bikes are great and we the people bikes. i was going to either get a sunday funday am or a we the people justice..

i suggest you get a general idea of what bike you want and keep an eye out on Ebay and check if any from your shortlist come up. i picked up a pretty good one for under $100 but saw tons of AMAZING ones for about $300-600.

i spent a while looking, and one popped up so i got it. also its $100 australian not US.

i reckon i got pretty lucky though, althought it was missing pedals but i got some Odyssesy ones for like $20

I have the WTP trust and love it although it may be a little out of your price range.
Defs check out WTP though, i havn't had a singe thing wrong with mine yet

Get a red line, I got one last year. I'm pretty happy with it and the company is probably one of the first to make bikes for BMX

Don't get the funday am, it is made out if high tensiled (sp?) steel, and cromo is much better, so get the ex is ur getting the pro
