Looking at Moments. Stuck on size choice

I am 5' 7 1/2" 155 lbs, aggressive skier. I'm looking for something to ride all around but I mostly like charging steep stuff, cliffs, and cruising the trees. I'm looking at some Moments, but the thing I'm hung up on is that they make their skis in 174 and 184s. I am really liking what I'm hearing from the Wildcats and Deathwish. I know the deathwish would float a bit better but are also pretty heavy.

I know they are pretty different skis but the commanders also seem great and I could do the 178 in those, or would they ride about the same length as the 184 wildcats?

So, would the 174 be too short after taking rocker into account, or is there enough to move up to the 184s? 184 seems pretty big for my height.

I would love to hear thoughts from people who have owned these skis before or any recommendations if you think something else might work better.

Was thinking of going with the Look P14 if I choose the hellcats. Thoughts?

I’ve skied the 190 and 184 wildcat 108s.

they do ski short so go the longer length.

and a pivot is the perfect binding choice

184 wildcat would be sick.

I am 6ft 90kg and I’m on the 184 but if you’re gonna charge your gonna charge ya nomsayin so you might as well get the bigger size. I wish I got the 190 116 WC

Do you think the 184 ride around a 181 or so?

What other skis have you been on that you liked / disliked?

was on the fancis bacons a while back and loved them, they were shorter but so was I, probably about 5' 5" and those were a 174 I believe. I have skied my friends' faction 3s recently and those were at 182, loved them. Recently I've been on the Volkl twos as I haven't had time to ski so I was only going up in good snow. But I will be skiing more often again this season so I'm looking for something I can rip around in most conditions.

Go big man. Tip and tail rocker and depending where you mount is gonna make 174 feel like ski blades. OK maybe an exaggeration but they'll feel shorter and maybe too short depending on your personal preference.

Unless you wanna be more nimble in very tight spaces whereas the 174 would excel, go 184... 184 skis are still pretty easy to pivot on a dime especially with all the rocker in skis these days. I have armada arv skis in 188 (measure 186) and mounted at rec which is similar to the wildcat 108 in mount rec location. Only issue I've had with longer skis is maybe once every blue moon, I'm in trees too tight that I clip my tails when turning.

But I will always choose longer skis at all costs if I can (except for my 179 wrens but that's cuz got end of season for $500 and mounted on the line which is way back there). The extra stability and flotation of length imo outweighs the minimal increase in effort to control them. You saying steep stuff and cliffs makes me even more say go big for that extra stability.

Plus long skis will make all the ski chicks want your dick.

How tall are you?

Idk somewhere around 6'/6'1". But I wouldn't base your decision on height. I was gonna make a thread on this a while back but now am gonna. I would consider weight, ability, aggressiveness, and intended use more important factors. You being 5" shorter than what some chart says is optimal is basically nothing. Also consider that 10cm=3.93 inches, so going up in length isn't all that big. Height charts are just a starting point for folks who have no clue.

I would take moment's rec of going 184 based on your previous comfort in skis that length and send er.

If you think you are still going to grow, get a real nice set up now which you can use for a long time, and allows for progression. Don't get something because it is perfect for you now. Get bindings that will still be good later if you are much better, and skis that wont be too short for you in two years.

If your feet are still growing though then idk. do whatever.

Yeah I wasn't basing the length I am going to get off height charts but the jump to 184 seemed like a lot as I have never consistently skied something that long. I want to go with the 184 but my buddy brought up the point that I want these because I'm looking for a playful everyday type setup that I don't have to worry about length when I get into tighter situations. At the same time, I also know the 184 will give me more stability when dropping shit and keeping control on days that arent great. Whatever decision I make I think I'll be good I just want as many different opinions I can get before I pull the trig

Thanks for the input. At the end of the day I gotta make a decision, so I might wait and try to get some free time to travel back home to the Tahoe area later this month to demo some from the factory and make my decision after that.
