Wow... some X Games commentators are just dumb. As Booby Brown spots his landing they yell, "Look at his eyes spot that landing!". He had completely mirrored goggles on...
 
I recognize that this is probably the most useless thread on ns (even more than the 10,000 "tall tees?" threads) but we all must recognize how shitty of a job ESPN does covering Winter X. We deserve better

Umm Mike Douglas and Uncle E do a great job. I'm always surprised at how much Mike Douglas knows about new things going on in the sport. Don't take everything people say so literally. Obviously we can't see their eyes, but we can still see Bobby spot his landing with his head.
Just like when you said ESPN does a shitty job I didn't suddenly think they shit on the hill and put it all in mega-mo.
 
Point taken, but you have to consider this in comparison to every other sport that ESPN covers. Although Freeskiing, Snowboarding, and Snowmobiling arent as popular as the other sports ESPN does, they still deserve the same treatment. The X Games, like many say, are the superbowl of action sports. Could you imagine the reaction if the announcers for the superbowl weren't knowledgeable football?
 
well i didnt see it but they probably meant that you can tell from where his head/goggs were facing that he was looking for his landing

and dude you wouldnt complain about commentating if you had been watching ski contests for a while. that sounds like a dick, elitist comment but that's not what i meant, i'm just saying the commentating used to be TERRIBLE. the fact that douglas and van valin and others who can actually identify tricks correctly are commentating is a big step from what it used to be
 
i dont get why so much hates towards mike d.

he does a great job, those commentaries are obviously for the laymen who doesnt know anything about the sport.

so if he just says wow nice k fed and then nice sausage 900 blunt i dont think anybody s gonna watch the skiing.

Are you saying that Mike D isn't knowledgeable within freeskiing? That's a bold statement, considering he pioneered the sport. He seems pretty well informed to me. Give it up.
