Hi there, anyone with experience in summitting this front range 14er speak up! What's the best time of year, all the ins and outs. It's truly a bucket list item for me, and living in CO now I wanna make it happen.

About me: Lots of experience backpacking at up to 12,000. Very good physical shape. My buddy (from vail) has loads of backcountry experience.

Thanks

You are right on the fringe of good season. Prime is late may to late august. Which route are you thinking? Keyhole is most popular and easiest I would say, but not EASY. It's a long hike and you have to navigate some decent exposure so be knowledgable and conscious of the weather. Start no later than 3 am so you can be off the summit by noon and avoid the daily thunderstorms around 2pm. I've summited via Keyhole in the summer with no issues. I have also gotten shut down on the Loft Couloir in mid-October due to poor snow/ice conditions. Definitely a fun and challenging mountain, not something I try to do ever year though :)
