Longer skis in park?

Hey was just looking for some opinions on ski length (/weight) in park.

I'm on some 158 Rossi Scratch Pros and haven't really had any complaints but... I'm gonna be giving them to my friend who I've wanted to get into skiing since forever but he really doesn't have the money to get started so.. I'm hooking him up with a pass that's attached to my employee pass, he was able to pick up boots and I'm giving him my Scratches.

SO, long story short, I'm gonna be looking at some new skis that I'll use on non-pow days (grooms/trees/moguls etc) and to screw around in the park with.

I like that my scratches are so light, makes it easy to learn new tricks (practically can't feel them half the time) but they're the only thing I've ever rode hard in the park save for some demo Extremes which were pretty legit.. but I just don't have the experience.

Opinions? How do you like your park skis to be? Short and quick or more weighted and stable? If it's a specific ski you point at, I'll go dig around for reviews and stuff on em.

Thanks for the advice

all depends really. I personally like a playful ski that can still throwdown on jumps. Which usually results in a medium flex in a longer length.

I guess one thing I'm sorta specifically thinking about is how they feel on rotations? Obviously a longer/heavier ski is slower but how do feel it effects you?

I like being able to work on things on smaller hits before taking them onto real jumps and then working on the timing and float but like I said I just dunno how much impact weight has on that sort of thing. Only other skis I have are some sir francis bacons so of course those are like tanks trying to drag around midair.

honestly, ski weight doesnt vary that much between skis, obviously some skis are heavier then others. if the ski fits you it shouldnt effect you too much, after the first 2 runs you wont even notice a difference

IMO you might like the Punx, there 183or182. And lightweight.. Im getting a pair next year, I'm 6ft and my last 2pair where 176, I'm wondering how much of a difference there is!?!?

I am 5' 9", and i have (all park skis) 174's, 178's, and 180's. It all depends on what you want from your skis. I haven't skied my 178 Scimitars, but my favorite skis are the 174's, because they are super playful and easy to swing around, but the 180s are really stable.

Im 5'11" and i rock the atomic punx at 182. I got them this long cause they are so flexy and light that the length will help with jumps a little
