Longboarding setup

Im thinking of getting a loaded dervish with paris 180 trucks, and retro zigzag 70mm 80a wheels.
i wanted to know if the deck is good for sliding/bombing hills but can still cruise. and whats a good helmet for longboarding, i was thinking full face cause i mountain bike too, but i guess ill upgrade later i just want something to protect the dome...

this looks cruisable to me! However, you might be interrested in thathttp://krackedskulls.com/. Those boards are quite similar to the dervish and a lot cheaper. My friend just bought one and it's absolutely awesome. They are handmade boards from a really passionate guy, and so far, they look perfect! Can't tell if they are really durable though

thanks for the suggestion ill definetly check it out. and ya ive seen that vid before its actually really sick and almost 100% convinced me to buy the board. but still what is a good helmet for longboarding?

If you're bombing don the hills, full face is a good option for sure. I personally am really afraid and uncomfortable at high speed over concrete, so I prefer carving and cruising. I wear the same helmet I wear skiing, a bern macon. It's pretty much a basic skate helmet. I think any skate or BMX helmet is good, they are desinged for the same kind of impact

thoes boards look sooo fun... i got a sector nine that i got at the local shop plenty of fun but does not seem as playful as the dervish

yo i have a loaded dervish cuz i saw that video and it basically made me wanna buy the board. one of the greatest decisions of my life. theres nothing the board cant do, i have randall trucks and orangatang wheels and i love it. i highly recomend it, completely worth it.

sick board cant go wrong with it but if you plan to slide and have your wheels last... your gunna want harder wheels. Just a suggestion though if your more into bombing then thats fine.

go with legendary bamboode. some type of board, same things in mind for th build and how it rides, but you can customize it to your liking! heres mine:

Paris trucks are sick i have the black 180's and i love them but get new bushings the ones that come with um are really really hard.

hahah funny thing is my friend just picked up an identical dervish to the one u want to get. It is the sickest longboard i have ever ridden. He got flex one and it is fucking sick. you can definitively slide this thing. it carves soooooo nice. get it you wont regret it

loaded boards are pretty good. i personally dont like them that much because i think the flexyness of them dampens their sliding ability but still a good board none the less. i ordered a new setup for the summer and cant wait until it gets here. its a Comet FSM with black randal 180s and earthwing freerider wheels. here is comet's site http://www.cometskateboards.com/ride/FSM/ and here is a video of me using my friend's never summer:

lol u cant pressure flip..sorry i just had to.

But how realistic do you think it would be to get a used longboard off here for like...50 shipped? cuz i really really really want one.

ah, people keep saying that. i have managed to land a few since that video was made and i am getting more consistent. also ive never heard it called a pressure flip, but an old school kick flip.

I agree with the trucks being dope, but the bushing are NOT HARD AT ALL. They blow dick and are soft.

ya idk i was thinking maybe harder duro wheels but the thing is im only learnin to slide to dump speed when cruisin/carving down hills to get around cause its mad usefull, im not gonna be sliding 24/7.

80a would be good. my brother has some 83a organatangs and i find them to be to hard. they are good for sliding in all but u cant get that sick deep carve out of them. 80a can give u a slide when u want one and u can still lay down those nice carves on it without worrying about slidding out.
