Longboarding hype

what is with all the long boarding hype, everyone at my school is into it, they're all acting like hippies and shit. long boarding is fun to cruise around on but i don't see the point in sliding, it looks kinda gay and i consider a good way to brake your neck.

correct me if I'm wrong about all this but I don't see how it has become THE summer activity

 
i started using my younger brothers and friends longboards a bit last summer, cruising gets pretty boring. thats why people step it up and try tricks. basically the same as skiers and park, you start by skiing around, shit gets boring pretty fast so you just go off jump straight and rails, then you want to start to step it up so you try tricks and shit.

i personally love longboarding. sliding is great fun and it feels really good when your doing it right and bombing huge hills is such a rush.
 
i can´t slide either, but i´ve never really tried to anyways. The roads around where i live are shit for sliding, to many holes and cracks.

I use my longboards to get from a to b, or just to cruise around with some friends.
