Longboarding Breaks

Any longboarders out there for one of our school classes we have to design, protoype and buid a product. We want to build some cheap longboarding breaks that can easly be removed. We want to do this so we can shred the steepest hills that u can never ride because there is a deadly intersection at the end that u need to stop for. We heve to see what people think so give us thought on this idea.

Cheapest? Carry a rock with you down said hill. When you want to stop simply throw it in front of you.

Safest? Probably something hydraulic that mounts on the back truck and is controlled from your hand.

Just learn to powerslide it solves all needing to stop problems.

use sliding gloves man, my bro just went on a 10min lonbboard run and he stopped/slowed down with gloves plus power sliding

make something that attached to your shoe like a big piece of rubber and just drag your foot when you want to stop

fall. sure, it hurts and you'll be able to see your shoulder bone for a few days, but at least you stopped before you crossed the intersection.

brakes and longboards don't mix. if you want something that might work, I remember seeing something ages ago about a parachute-like cape that goes between your arms and hips, kind of like a squirrel suit. you just open your arms and you;ll slow down.

braking on a longboard would be like wheelbite, instant crash. unless it was real gradual.

i would not want to test longboard brakes. If you want to get started somewhere I would look at a mountainboard tho and tape it if you get it done and test it cause it will probably fail at high speeds resultiing in a great video

good luck! theres soo many hills around me that i want to hit but the ending is super deadly... i can't really find a solution to this stopping problem, if i attempt to powerslide or any other stopping method im possitive i'll eat shit lol

i dunno, that sounds like you might just go flying backward off of the board from wind-resistance, unless you were strapped to the board or something.
