looking to buy a good board, the only one ive ever had is a shitty homemade one i bought from some asshole on here who ripped me off.
anyways, which of these three is the best board for me? i picked them out purely by price range. the board i have now is a drop through like the first two boards and thats all ive ever ridden. i will be using this board for some light transport and recreation at college down south, i'm not gonna bomb any huge hills or anything.

+k for good answers, thanks!

I'm not too into longboarding, but I'd put a guess out and say if you're just using it to mosie around and nothing serious I'd just go for the cheap one.

They are all good boards. I have a loaded bhangra right now and love it. I would go with the longest one, I myself prefer a bigger board. If you aren't going to be bombing any I think the longer board would be fun. Those prices seems pretty decent too. Hope you have as much fun as I do.

look into original skateboards i have the pintail 40 and love it but if u wanna do some freestyle and if u can drop a little more money get the apex 37

I've had my loaded dervish for 3 years and its still in perfect condition. I ride at least twice a week and it takes a lot of hits. Definetly get a bamboo board. Oh yeah and u want like a 38 inch board, drop through deck with a little nose and tail, 180 mm trucks, 83a wheels so its not too grippy but still wont slide out and get a light wood cos lugging around a heavy board all day is a bitch. Hope this helps

while i don't have the privilege of owning one, i have heard from multiple sources that the dervish is an amazing board. That being said, high quality comes with a higher price tag.

theres been a bunch of threads on the same question. i wouldnt recommend sector9, bustin, and definitly the majority of the original boards. the other threads have my reasoning in them

I have the kracked skulls scimitar and I love it! In my experience after riding a drop through, a standard mount isn't nearly as fun. It almost feels unsatisfying to me. Also you can completely customize a KS board and the owner responds to your email super fast if you have any questions.

karma given thanks guys. S9 was the only brand I knew, but I looked up Bustin and I'm really likin their stuff. Can anyone else attest to their quality?
Also, some free stickers for whoever wants to take the time to lay out the pros/cons of a longer board vs a shorter board and how much upgrading bearings really affects the performance of the board (specifically want to know if upgrading will make it cruise better and longer between kicks)

longer board- better at speed, better for dancing (more room)

smaller- easier to carry, more nimble etc. and let me find a great bearing article for u one second

well i cant find it but its basically this huge article explaining how anything better then abec-1 is useless unless you are on a perfectly smooth slope without pushing or turning going some ridiculous speed. as long as its well shielded and quality materials, it doesnt really matter the abec rating. i suggest some bones reds.

personally, the drop through ones are much easier and nicer to ride, i'd go for of the first two

arguable.
it's important that you get a proper bushing setup. lots of boards will feel like they're hard to turn if you have really hard bushings if you're not heavy or not turning hard. I ride two soft cones in paris 150s for the board i ride to class. my speed board that i'm building (i actually know how to build them though) will have harder ones, not much harder though.

dont hate on s9. they have some damn nice boards at fucking cheap prices. try to avoid their ones with fg though...

get something like the bomb hills and cut it into the shape you want. cheap and effective. and as i always say, loose trucks save lives

the S9 downhill division are nice.
and I just noticed you said personally haha (to whatever girl I quoted)
I ride top mouts for everything. i like dropped decks though.

yeah, topmounts for life. drop throughs a bit twitchy, and dont provide nearly enough grip/cornering ability

Check out longboardskater.com for some good prices if you're looking at some of the premium companies. That being said, the carbon decay comp looks real fun for commuting to class, shorter is better when you gotta avoid pedestrians.

If your willing to smash your face into hard ground anytime over 10 mph, these completes are definitly for you. If your gonna get an original, get the new carbon apex DECk and mount randalls on it, that's a nice combo. Or just get a BC eel

you just have to be good to use originals trucks. they're really fun for slow speeds though. watch videos of the originals guys, they go fast and carve on those trucks.

I would def look into rayne as well.. owned three of their boards and all of them have been banger. Some of my friends with loadeds always talk about how they wished they went rayne. Things suck your feet in and wont let you out

The s9 Carbon decay looks pretty sick but i dont have any experience with it. if u have the money i would most definitely get a loaded dervish. such a sick board. i have one and i absolutely love it.

dont get sector 9

my friend rides a Brian Cooper Eel, and it is sooo nice. and i dont think it was much more than 200 so it should be right in your price range. check them out.

have you ever ridden one? try it then try something like a loaded, original, arbor, rayne, etc. you will notice the difference immediately. been there, done that, my advice stands, take it or leave it

invest in a loaded board they are super nice and will last a long time i would recommend a dervish or a tan tien

actually, i have. i've used it to race for the past couple months, and it does everything as well as my old nemesis could do.

Good Boards To Consider:
Earthwing Supermodel
Earthwing Belly Racer
BC Moray Eel
Jati Akira
Landyachtz Switch
Landyachtz Drop Speed

Boards To Not Get:
Anything Loaded (Yes, they are good, but are overpriced and overhyped)
Most S9 (good cruisers, not good for anything else for the most part)
Also, dont buy anything ridiculously expensive, (i.e. Loaded Otang Precision Trucks) because you are a noob and do not need it. Go onto silverfish.com and get good opinions from people who know what they are talking about. Remember, its the wizard not the wand

I say any good longboards for beginners are
-Loaded Dervish
-Loaded Tan Tian
-Rayne Nemesis
-Really any board from Landyachtz
Hope this helps

I wasn't saying those are only beginner boards, I'm just saying those are great boards, I have a Landyachtz Wolfshark and if I say so myself I'm pretty experienced. I love that board, it has great gas pedals really allowing you to dig your toe in for toeside checks/toeside pre-drifts. I really recommend that board.

The deck with drop is ok, but sidewinders suck really bad. I would recommend any of the boards from my previous post, and anything landyachtz preferrably with paris or bear trucks
