Long Underwear

recommendations? I usually use Underarmour but it's small now and it was always a little short. has anyone here used the 686 long underwear or the Patagonia Capilene and how did it fit and how warm was it? thank you NS

I'm not sure if your talking about just 1st layer or actual underwear. I know salomon "2nd skin" I think it's described as works unbelievably well. It's a really thick undershirt, basically a jacket but really thick and hot. Also hit up TJ MAX they have some sick deals right now for under pants+long sleeves for like $12 each

i don't see where under armor would work as a warm layer...i use it for football and baseball to absorb sweat, but it never warms me...but i guess its all in preference.

but i have a few different brands of long underwear that i wear when i ski...and they basically all do the job =)

I'm looking for base layer.. I normally don't wear boxers under. I might try TJ max but I'm not sure where one is around me. I have a 20% code for backcountry so I was thinking of ordering from there. I'll search the salomon one.

I used some REI brand stuff in the past, but this year I'll be upgrading to some Helly Hansen Dry Tech stuff. I find that wearing that as a base later and maybe another synthetic shirt keeps me pretty warm.

so i totally just rock longjohns! its like $10 a set(yea, thats both a shirt and pant!) at target and it keeps me cozy all year round. but then again, i live in a trailer...

go to tjmaxxx, marshals, or ems. long underwear is long underwear. its practically all the same

WOOOOO!!!!! Me too! Sickest base layer you can find! no snow or drafty breezes ever get in and they're the most comfortable things ever!

oh yeah i have but he's talking brands bud. I already assumed he knew whether he wanted spandex cotton w.e. BUt to me all cottons are the same, all spandex is spandex. Brand doesn't really change too much

I prefer Under Armour but try Esse or something like that. Or try that stuff that holds your muscles better so you don't tear or injure your knee as easily.

1 pair of icebreaker - all you ever need.

i believe the record is 180 days straight without washing them

the patagonia stuff is super nice. its really lightweight but still keeps you warm and dry. i'd say 2 or 3 is your best bet, 3 being a little heavier than 2. i prefer 2 myself, and i would just wear one of those tops under my down coat and be plenty warm. patagonia also does a lot of nice, friendly, environmentalist stuff, if you're into that sort of thing too.
