Lol Canadian smoking police

I was up in bc and I saw these old guys, one skier and one snowboarder both police on the mountain riding around. I was talking to this kid I met and he was talking about how they were trying to catch him for smoking weed a week or so ago but he just our ran them haha. Apparently these police are implemented to prevent smoking on gladded runs and they will ticket people.

I was so surprised to see this, to me it seems like a big wast of time by the police. Have any of you guys seen these mountain police riding around?

>waste of time by police to enforce laws in an environment where people under the influence of illegal drugs can easily injure themselves or others.

okay why would they be patrolling a ski hill then? looking for fucking coke deals or human trafficking?

Yeah well they mostly bust people for smoking because that is one of the most common law broken on the mountain. I would guess crime on a ski hill is fairly low and there are already ski patrol to do the same job the police do.

They have these at a couple Banff resorts.

Big waste of police resources in my opinion. It's not like they're busting people for distribution on ski hills. They just harass people carrying weed for their own personal consumption which is a big step backwards compared to the new laws elsewhere.

Cops patrol my local hill, but mostly because it's against the law not to wear a helmet, a law that's new this year. It's not really a big deal, just don't be an idiot and you'll be fine. Also, the cops on my mountain aren't getting paid, so they're not wasting any police resources.

And people not under the influence of drugs can also easily hurt themselves. Arrest everybody on the hill. They're endangering themselves. WE MUST PROTECT YOU FROM YOURSELF.

i have cops at my ski hill. i asked them what they do up here. they said they don't get paid, but there passes are free. they just go up and cruise around.

they didn't give a shit about making arrests

not really a waste of tax dollars

they are lazy and ignorant that's really all there is to it. they want a free day at the hill and they don't have any respect for anyone else. i'm just glad they haven't started patrolling my mountain (yet?). your best bet is just to go smoke on a double-black where those pricks won't find you.

they should be watching for fuckers stealing from the racks if they actually want to make a difference/catch some people

How do you propose they stop stealing from the racks? What proof would they have that the skis someone is carrying aren't theirs?

And how do you even prove ownership of skis?

yeah I didn't think that one through really. but I guess you could watch for people who look like they're scoping something out. or people in snowboard boots taking skis/the other way around, or people who are 6'1" grabbing 155s. but they could just be grabbing their friends' stuff so I dunno. where there's a will there's a way. there are definitely some dipshits who would say it's their pair of skis instead of a friends and then have the bindings be completely off and not fit.

they claim to be doing that as well, don't worry. i heard a whole interview on the radio a few weeks back about this and the whole thing sounded like the usual RCMP big talk. the cops in the city are by far way more chill than the RCMP when it comes to this stuff, i've never had a problem with cops while blazing before but i guess the RCMP are trying to make up for being fuck-ups all the time. what i don't understand is why they think they're gonna do a better job of keeping unwanted riders off the hill than the ski patrollers already do (not that the patrollers don't blaze themselves). luckily RCR seem to be the only people around here giving them free tickets (i don't ski RCR hills).

The only people that they're ever going to catch is idiots, mind you I got caught jumping off a lift so I can't say much.

Meh..... these guys fucking suck at riding. If they can catch me, or keep up with me then I deserve to be caught. Just get proper smoking spots and you woun't get caught. Don't just go smoking in the glades. If you have to unclip and walk for a little bit, then more then likely it's a good smoking spot.
