Log rails

This year a made a couple rails out of logs. I was wondering if anybody had done the same. They actully slide well and cost nothing.

On both of these i flatened the top with a planer then sanded it and put on bowling alley wax. It actully slides really well when you do this.

i finnally got to set the dfd up on snow last week. I only got to hit it a couple times though. Here is the vid.

what kind of wood is that?

type of wood makes a huge difference, it can be hard or very soft.

if you were to use soft wood, its only a small one to put HDPE on them and they'd still look ghetto !
^^ really sweet skills making those! do they take a lot more work to make then regular boxes/rails?
