Local legends

Does your local hill have interesting and wacky characters that everyone loves?

So at killington we got this guy named Chris groovy. He wears all neon and starts every conversation I have ever seen him have with “yo whassap Chris groovy in the house” The guy rides like 150 old ass beat twin tips and absolutely hucks himself. He definitely has had a lot of experience with psychedelics and is pretty fried. Anyway he hucked his first 3 to the absolute bottom of a 20 foot kicker with all the locals hyping him up. This is just one of the many characters you will meet at killi.

There was this old homie everyone called helicopter back at my local hill in OH. Later learned that it wasn’t because he had a mean 360…

I mean there’s the old Lifty at breck, I forget his name I think it’s Tim or Tom

dude takes his job seriously like he’s a military instructor when it comes to loading people on the lift. “ONE. YOU’RE TWO. GET WITH THESE THREE PRONTO.”

Some people get mad at him because yeah it comes off aggressively but it’s all in good fun, love the guy

Bittersweet has Tommy the liftie working the beginner chair. Kind of freaky until you learn he's harmless. Always helped out the instructors and students trying to cut the line on weekends.

Got this kid named cookie here in the bighorns. Kinda just randomly shows up. Pretty sure he’s like 7 but somehow everyone knows him. So far I’ve only seen him while riding the lift up

Where do y’all ski up in the bighorns??

The ski group called A Group of Friends at hood are super fun to ski with, (also not a skier but Sean Fitzsimons is a local at hood)

Jack Pilot at the bird. He wears a full face and is the real deal when it comes to crazy hucks to this day in his early 40s

Also is just a super nice dude when you get to know him a little!

Just read that whole ass article

that guy is nuts

We got Daron Rhalves at sugar bowl, Ik he's a racer but he wears a vail sucks sticker on his helmet which makes him a hero.

Anybody who rides at Loon should recognize Steve the telemark guy. I've been riding there pretty much every weekend for the last 5-years and never don't see him.

He wears an old green LLBean jacket, dangles a bluetooth speaker from his neck and cruises the same 2 trails on North Peak legitimately all day. Gotten to ride up with him a few times and he's a super nice (albeit a bit quirky) guy.

Cant remember the dudes name but Mt Kato in Mankato MN we had one lift opp that was just always slapping tunes and wearing interesting fits. Long story short the guy was an absolute g, but one day the police showed up to the hill and arrested the guy on the job and I havent seen him since.

Killington is home to too many characters/legends to count. My favorite Killington legend is probably this homie sweater man, who got that nickname for skiing shirtless a LOT throughout the season flexing his freakish amounts of chest and back hair. Also, the dude who ran a bud business out of coopers cabin and had business hours was funny af, who knows where he's at now.

Talked to him at the bus stop earlier this season, I believe JohnnyB is what people call him if I'm remembering right. They moved him somewhere else because he got too many complaints at Indy chair... petition to get Indy chair's king back on his throne

Sorry its hard to tell age when your comedy is strait out of 2015 NS. Hmu when you’re ready to throw down kid I’ll be looking forward to shredding with you no joke. Thats what its all about, claim you’re the best and people will challenge it. Seems like a good way to meet new people and progress fast.

I Immediately think of [tag=189437]@DominatorJacques[/tag] at Mt. Bachelor. He's quite the local legend

there was this old snowbaord legend in Hemsedal, Norway called Tommen. he used to be a drug addict, but got blessed by snowsports. he loved finding new ways to get down the mountain and was always stoked. sadly he died in 2020, but his legacy and soul lives on. he's sort of "the dude" in the big lebowski, super chill and just wanna do what he loves. could easily make religion out of his way of living. SIP Tommen

Dog I think you need to chill and go get some fresh air.

C’mon man come shred. Its all in good fun no need to be a wet blanket. I think wf tickets are pretty damn cheap compared to most others rn. MT air is fresh af except for trace amounts of meth and radiation. Nothing to worry about

I got to ride the chair with Dan the Budman the other day at Copper. That guy is a legend all over the west. Got props from him for skiing without poles and spinning around

Dude I saw a one legged skier hit the big jump line at Remarks Parks in NZ. I was blown away. The absolute leg strength and balance in that one leg..

one legged skier at winter park who gets called lieutenant Dan, idk his real name

There was a guy at Charlotte Pass in Aus who used to love to ski his ski blades with gym shorts on. He had this baby blue helmet he always wore with aviators. His name was James but everyone called him Jeams. I met some characters at that place
