Little legal question.

i was on my way to class this and was stopped dead at a red light, its snowy as FUCK,not very much traction, hard to stop, etc. some car came up behind me and rear ended me. the hit was not very hard at all, like i wasnt even sure i had just been hit and the car was alot lower than my truck, so im pretty sure the guy just my hit my tow hitch because when i checked when i got to class there was no damage at all. if he did hit my trailer hitch it probably cracked his grill or dented his hood a little.

anyways, it was freezing cold, snowing, i was gonna be late for class, i was sure the guy hadnt hurt my truck and my license is already suspended. i turned around in my seat, checked out the guy and his car to make sure he was ok and saw it was still running, as the guy opened his door to get out, the light turned green and...

i drove away.

lets say the guy that hit somehow got my plate number (not likely, covered in snow) and for some reason called the police? would i be in alot of trouble? or just a little? or none at all? i mean, he did hit me. like, should i even be worried about this?

i mean, what are they really going to do? take my license away for fleeing the scene of an accident? jokes on you fuckers. i dont even have a license to take away. i guess they could send me to jail but i would probably just start a new gang while i was inside and become king of the drug trade the day i stepped out.

Well, if they don't have a license to take away, they will probably do whatever comes next - longer suspension, fines, court, etc.

Yes, you could get in trouble if he had your plates. However, him running into you means it was his fault, so likely he's not going to turn you in unless he happened to be on off duty cop and wanted to be dick about it. Besides that, unless he has a picture or something (or the stoplight has cameras) you can just deny it, really.

yeah, don't let anyone touch your truck.

but actually, say u didnt feel the collision... if you have no damage on ur truck then it could be easily fought.

if you dont have a license its prolly best you left + u didnt do anything to cause the accident so dont feel bad. i know a few ppl that got into collisions with people without licenses and basically were like fuck you give me money or im callin 5-0. Asshole move but people are dumb. The chances he got your plate are slim if it was snowy. dont worry no one gives a fuck about one fender bender in a snow storm. If they for some reason find out it was you tell them you didn't feel anything so why would you have known to stop.

you're fucked is you're license is suspended already, but you can say he had a small car and you are in a big truck, say you didnt even notice this guy hit you. maybe you can get away with it from there. if you're truck has no damage then they cant really do shit all if you had no idea. and really its that other guys fault too.

THIS, IF YOU DONT CONVINCE THEM YOU WILL BE IN TROUBLE and if ur license is suspended and the cops come to you, you are in trouble mister

Maybe you shouldn't drive with a suspended license. Sounds like a pretty fucking stupid thing to do, don't you think? Hopefully they find you and slap you a nice fine to smarten you up

Stickin' up for the guy who drove with a suspended license and who left the scene of an accident? Cool, whatever floats your boat. In that case, good luck op, you've got it real tough, hope you get out okay.

/Sarcasm

I recently found out a couple months ago that my license was suspended, and had been for 3 years. Unfortunately I found out by getting pulled over on my bike.

It was suspended because 3 years ago I got a ticket dropped, but failed to pay a $25 court fee accidentally.

I got a $600 dollar ticket, for a $25 dollar fee. Getting fined really helped my situation. /sarcasm

Even if I knew my license was suspended i probably would've still had to drive.

It was hardly the scene of an accident, police don't need to be notified if both the drivers are able to handle it themselves. I've been in plenty of fender benders that didn't cause any damage and we simply said "wow that's lucky" exchange info, and went on our separate ways.

Ya he shouldn't have just driven off but whatever, he did.

So, fuck you.

/non sarcasm

no the other guy probly thinks its his lucky day would you call the cops if u rear ended someone and they drove away?

Whatever. I don't have an issue with you nor do I really care to know anything about you. Deal is he knew his license was suspended and was driving around anyway. Fine, jail, or slap on the wrist, I really could care less. He posted on a public forum asking for help, and forums are generally supported by users posting their opinions. I gave my opinion, and apparently you're all butthurt about it. So much in fact that you "cleverly" mocked my post by employing the end switch (/) to try and make a point. And just so you're clear, one can be charged with hit and run, regardless of fault, no matter the magnitude of the collision. Feel free to reduce my karma (as I don't give a flying fuck about it) or respond all you want, but I'm done replying to you. I'll end with FUCK YOU. /bullshit

you should have got out, had a brief confo with him, as he probably would have just said 'doh, my bad. no big deal' and life goes on. easy to say that in retrospect, but i think youre fine. nobody is going to call the police because someone took off after being the victim of a rear-end bump. if you were at fault and took off, then we have a problem. that's probably why he got out in the first place. he was likely thinking that he needed to apologize, so by leaving, im sure he just thought that you were fine and weren't going to worry about it.

long story short, YOURE GOING TO JAIL MOTHER FUCKER

dude's gonna be stoked that you left and that he doesnt have to deal with all the shit except for his own car

Had you not posted this incriminating evidence online you could have said you didnt know it had happened had the police become involved. and since u didnt do anything wrong not much would happen

my friend was driving and he got rear ended at a light. he booked it cuz he didnt think it was too bad and he was drunk/high/has shit in the car. Somebody followed him and got his plate. he had a warrant for hit and run. your fucked if he got your plate/called the cops/the traffic light had a camera that got your plate.

Your probably okay since like it been said, he hit you so if he reports it he stands to lose money and insurance and whatnot.
I heard somewhere tho that if your drivin drunk and hit a telephone pole, hydrant or something other than a person or a person in a car then it is best to leave the car and run cause you will probably get away and then you just come back when your sober and get a fleeing the scene charge. much less severe than DUI

depending on a few things, most importantly the financial situation of the dude who hit you, he mightve been stoked you drove away. maybe not. if i had to bet, though, i'd say youre probably in the clear. take that for what it's worth i guess
