Little early for Superunkown suggestions but...

Probably a little early for this, but who should get the nod? Can't help but think about how Oliver Karlberg said in his interview basically last minute someone told him to submit a video and he won, can't imagine how someone who's that good at skiing would not have Superunkown on their radar, I think a lot of people should get that nudge this year to submit possibly...

-Ant Man from Keesh Life

-For that matter anyone from Keesh Life (Antti and Joona might be a little pro or "known")

-Forster Meeks

-Hugo/Emil (I know Emil submitted last year and somehow only got to semis)

-Joel Magnusson

-Emile Bergeron (he's submitted a couple year so idk if he would want to submit again)

-Dicky Thomas (kid is absolutely insane)

-Max Moffatt/Carney (too known?)

Magnus Skotte Norsteng is easily qualified. Great style and pulls out some mind benders from time to time. Made finals in XI but lost, could definitely come back. Also Mango would be fun to see.

With the power invested in me, I call upon our lord and saviour JC_Peggy to come cover superunknown in a thick layer of your smooth Vaseline skiing. Please and thank you. Amen brother

Every single one of these skiers in that list is know, and at least two are already part of crews that are constantly producing content. The whole point of SuperUnkown was to give *unknown* skiers a platform to showcase themselves that otherwise couldn't.

Joel Magnusson and Dicky Thomas are honestly the only names I don't recognize from your list. The rest have either put out well known content for years or have been promoted on ns/slvsh/social medias for numerous times. Meeks and B-Mile unknown?... lol

Even if the intention of super unknown is to promote skiers as you've described, Keegan, Jonah and Mitchell brower to name a few were reasonably well known (at least on ns) before they won so I'd say most of OPs list with the odd exception like Antti and maybe Meeks could well be considered potential entrants/winners.

Also I hope Carney enters. Seeing him in the street with l1 (was he in an inflik street part?) would be so dope

Yeah you are right, i guess Oliver Karlberg winning was a step in the right direction in my opinion.

Its just a business model, level 1 make more money by giving Superunkown to someone that already has a following. If Carney ever entered and didn't win, pretty sure level 1 would take a massive hit.

Maybe i am just being cynical, and by no means am i saying the previous winners didn't deserve it, they all slay

In this day and age, when are you not going to find someone not promoted on ns/slvsh/social media...its not like skiers just appear out of nowhere (although Oliver Karlberg is an interest exception because he is a nasty skier that was truly under the radar but I feel that is pretty rare to be that unknown at the time and that good)

Meeks is in the Hoodcrew but I would hardly say that that means he can't film for another crew, both Emil/Hugo seemingly don't have crews they are filming with on a season basis

Most skiers are going to be a part of some crew or another, like both Ferdinand Dahl and Knut Fineid are in JediCrew but I think both of them would easily qualify as dope Superunkown candidates

If guys aren't really producing content, how does superunknown find them? I'm genuinely asking, not trying to be a dick. Is it mostly like when normal guys like us post a season edit? Or get featured in a bigger crews vid? I've just always wondered how superunkown finds the guys that none of us have really heard of.

Yes, good skiers get their small glimpse of spotlight every now and then, like when they drop a good edit that no-one remembers a month later. But there's a difference when you're on the front page constantly: Hugo and Emil both have been some of the most hyped/promoted skiers on newschoolers and slvsh (which are important community sites) since they played their first game 1-2 years (?) ago. I think it eats away from the term "unknown" when people who are already known enter and take the cake. However, I do think they deserve a crew to film with. Winning superunknown is not the only way anyways (just look how many non-SU winners are filming with Level 1).

I personally think every SU winner since Sig Tveit (with the exception of Oliver, maybe Mitchell) have been too known in the community to deserve the title (don't get me wrong, they are all killing it). Trust me, there are skiers who kill it harder than most and don't have a following like the people on your list: Not many know their names until they enter, and that should be the whole point of superunkown in my view.

the unknown skiers submit edits for superunknown, not the other way around

Sounds great on paper, but this is never how the contest goes. Basically every person that's ever won SU has been 'known' before they won, they just weren't filming with 'pro' crews or making any money before (or after ;)).

Also, Duncan Milne is a super underrated skier and if he could put an edit together then it would be super dope. Also Mark Hendrickson if hes not to well known

Hah. This isn't even remotely true. SuperUnknown has no "business model" - if it did we wouldn't bother doing it because it would be a losing proposition for us. Every single year that we've hosted a Finals event the winner has been solely chosen by the Finalists. Simple.

Never disputed that fact, the fact its rider judged is so sick and makes it one of the most legit contest that skiing has. I genuinely look forward to it every year and filmed a chunk of Ryan Kennedys semi final edit last season. I am all for Superunknown. Trust.

I am just questioning the rules with regards to who is "unknown" enough to enter, e.g If someone like woodsy entered would he progress to the semis?

Very simple- if someone is paid cash to ski by companies that sponsor them, they don't quality for SuperUnknown. We've found that's the appropriate litmus test for the event. As everyone has pointed out by now almost no skier with any real talent is truly 'unknown' but this is the best way we've found to handle it.

So Oliver Karlberg didn't receive a dime from Armada? Just free skis/outerwear? Not saying you guys are lying, just seems crazy that he wasn't getting anything, even if it was just a small amount. Stoked that he won, though.

Yeah i get that, especially with Instagram ect all good skiers have their own following now so it is much harder to be unknown.

I was so hyped when Keegan won, he absolutely slayed that year... but he was riding his own pro model ski?
