List your top 10 favorite (or any number really) Essential Mixes. Also it would be awesome if you added DL links as well to help people out. Please don't shit on this thread and fill it with arguments about who's music is better and other BS.

#10-Funkagenda (1/10/2009)

http://soundcloud.com/das-boy/2009-01-10-essential-mix-funkagenda

Tech-ish, progressive house.

#9-DJ Shadow (3/30/2003)

http://soundcloud.com/das-boy/2003-03-30-essential-mix-dj-shadow

Old school turntable style, really hard to believe this mix is nearly 10 years old.

#8-Major Lazer (7/25/2009)

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/5023159/

Really an odd mix....love Diplo's mixing style, lots of reggae.

#7-Above and Beyond (6/6/2004)

http://soundcloud.com/das-boy/2004-06-06-essential-mix-above-and-beyond

Adore this mix, amazing classic trance feel.

#6-Netsky (9/10/2010)

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/5875608/

Normally I don't care for Drum and Bass, but Netsky completely changed my mind about this genre. Borderline melodic.

#5-Carl Cox (8/15/1999)

http://soundcloud.com/das-boy/1999-08-15-essential-mix-carl-cox-space-ibiza-es

Carl Cox proving once again that he's a fucking house GOD, one of the best live mixers in the game.

#4-Arty (2/11/2012)

http://www.hulkshare.com/8r1popj1pkxw

Easily the best essential mix so far this year, Arty killed it with FANTASTIC bootlegs/mashups and a great stadium trance sound.

#3-Skream (6/17/2007)

http://soundcloud.com/das-boy/2007-06-17-essential-mix-skream

Skream is truly the king of dub, call me a hipster I don't care. This mix has the most plays on my iPod.

#2-Above and Beyond (2/7/2011)

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6511253/

Lets put it this way, 2011's Essential Mix of the year for a reason...some of these tracks literally bring tears to my eyes. Group Therapy for sure.

#1. Flying Lotus (11/29/2008)

http://soundcloud.com/das-boy/2008-11-29-essential-mix-flying-lotus

FlyLo will always be the man...Definitely the most "different" essential I've ever heard. Plus i've always had a soft spot for Trip-Hop ever since i heard Portishead.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Daft Punk-http://www.mediafire.com/?sph7fjsfpp398jr

Deadmau5-http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4305179/

Avicii-http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/80173454/file.html

Benga-http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4008960/

Sander Kleinenberg-http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6013636/

POST UP YOUR FAVORITES GUYS! :)

I was 19 at your #5 and remember it like yesterday!!! DJ shadow in 03 as well! Geez NS makes me feel old... When really I'm not at all!

i honestly wish that i would have been old enough to enjoy those back then....it's hard looking back and knowing that i missed the glory days. :(

Alright, I have to admit, I listen to livesets and mixes only now. Because of these mixes. I have a playlist of 50+ right now, from shows to episodes to essential mixes. The EM is my favorite for its 2 hour length.

Top 10 is a tough fucking call. I told myself I wouldn't order them, but I think I just did. So, boom!

#10:Arty (2012_02_11)

Arty topped my chart of favorite artist around the time this mix was released. Great stuff

#09:Netsky (2010_10_09)

Love this mix, my preference of drum and bass can be summed into this and...

#08:Chase&Status (2008_09_08)

...this essential mix. woo

#07:Cosmic Gate (2011_02_12)

This is my latest addition to my essential mix playlist, and currently my go to for car rides.

I'm lame and don't have as wide a range of EM listens as Jamie or Spencer, so I'll do a top five in no particular order:

Arty (11/2/2012):

Encompasses all my favorite songs from the time with awesome flow and just enough variety to keep it from being boring, with some lovely bootlegs I rarely hear.

Laidback Luke (2/19/2011):

Listened to this again recently, and realized I love it. IDK what you want to call his style, but this is pretty signature. No long songs, pretty direct and to the point, with a few occasional hip hop vocal samples to keep it interesting.

Eric Prydz (8/27/2011)

If you like Eric, a live essential mix doesn't get any better. Wonderful, deep, melodic progressive house. You know what you're getting and it's great.

Kaskade (9/9/2011)

There are so many great mashups in this mix it's hard to pick a favorite (even if they aren't live), plus lots of classic Kaskade originals (including the full original of Turn it Down, which he rarely plays by itself anymore) and a few other songs that fit his sound perfectly.

Above and Beyond (7/2/2011)

I said no particular order, but this is my favorite. Movie quotes, incredibly varied and smooth mixing, emotional variety, this has everything. I've played it for people who haven't listened to trance before and they loved it. So do I.

Off the top of my head a few that come to mind:

Nero Essential Mix (Not sure what date)

Arty 2-11-2012

Kaskade (September 2011?)

This thread is awesome, so hopefully i'll find some more when I get off mobile

how do u guys listen to this if your not at a concert/club? like it just seems so out of place. idk what do i know

because we enjoy it? not like you need drugs or dancing to listen to electronic music. half the mixes posted contain music you'd NEVER even hear at a club nowadays. at least sample the mixes before you say something dumb.

Because they are amazing to just listen to while doing other things and occasionally there will be an incredibly sick song.

man.. Cox and DJ Shadow. Such good picks.

I'd throw up Subfocus's essential mix from a year or two ago in there for sure. That was so awesome.

I actually really liked Nero's from last year too... and I'm not usually really into dubstep anymore at all.

Solomun's recent BBC mix was quite good.

Can't think of my favs right now, but Carl Craig had an amazing one last year. Seth Troxler had a really good one last year as well I believe.

Just off the top of my head, in no specific order:

MSTRKRFT

Herve

Fake Blood

Gui Boratto

Chris Lake

Simian Mobile Disco

The Twelves

SMD @ Rock Ness

SBTRKT

Hot Chip (2012)

Bumping this guy for Hardwell's doooooope mix a bit ago. Some of my favorites right now are both Above and Beyond mixes, Thomas Gold, and Nicky Romero.

Bitches before cunts? Bingo booya cool? Banshee bungee carrier?? British brodcasting corporation? Ben bites cierra??

i haven't heard many but none of them have been any good. i heard a nero one and it was terrible, and a bassnectar one that was subpar

Not exactly essential mixes but I've been listening to a lot of the Diplo and Friends mixes on BBC R1XTRA. Definitely a lot of trap stuff if you're into that, but he's a fucking great dj regardless of what genres of EDM you listen to

adderall and studying for finals bumping maya jane cole's essential mix. sooooo fucking good for studying, but just awesome in general

For some reason I can't quote it, but the deadmau5 08 set is amazing. I feel like I'm embarking on a musical journey every time I listen to it, thats how mixes should be done."today, I would like to talk to you about the cow..."
