Better than some of the rap shit out there.

Before you hate, I do like rap. While the lyrics are fucking stupid most of the time, it's catchy and thats why people like it. But it's simplistic.

I like that Linkin Park's shit seems to have some substance to it:

 
I never said you did. I was comparing it to what's generally liked by the radio population as of now. But to be fair, radio stuff never has any "substance" to it.

But how is Linkin Park juvenile? I'm not hating, I'm genuinely curious what you guys think.
 
well just maybe try to broaden your horizons musically. i cant really put into words why, but they are lacking in so many ways. however i have not listened to anything new from them so i guess its just my old opinion. everyone has the right to like what they like i guess.
 
My musical tastes are huge. I like a wide range of stuff.

Maybe they are juvenile, I don't know. I've just always liked them and always thought their lyrics had messages people could relate to.
 
i dont like linkin park, but i dont hate them either.

but i was on the lift once, and this linkin park song comes on my ipod (it was on there to get me pumped up to ride, i think it was lying for you) you could hear it coming out of my skullcandys which were around my neck.

all 3 other people on the lift stopped talking and just stared at me. one of them was like "yo is that linkin park?" as i was trying to get to my media pocket to skip the song, i hit the button and was just like "hahah nah of course not dude" and he was just like "yeah, thats what i thought"

and thats a true story.

Anyways after one good listen through, I've changed my mind. Kind of like it.

They sound WAY different than their screamo stuff from way back when.

why i dont like linkin park: it is angsty music with purposely vague lyrics that are about nothing, yet always the same. watch, i'll write a linkin park song right now

Their new stuff is absolutely terrible, but their first couple albums were really solid even though I listened to them in middle school.
 
While this is true, some good bands do have vague lyrics, but that leaves it up to the listener to interpret them, and sometimes that's the beauty of music. One person takes one thing from a song, while another takes a completely different message from it.

And to TinyTigers, you're right in that they're waaaay different than they used to be. It's a good thing if you like softer stuff, but if you stick mostly to harder stuff it's a bummer. You kinda have to let go of expecting hard guitar riffs etc
 
The singers voice is really annoying. The rapper guy that actually fit into linkin park pretty well left to make his own horrible rap career.

All the songs sound a like. The lyrics, the tune.

I had to youtube to find what song it was. Bleed it out is seriously one of the most awful songs I've heard. It sucked to hear it everywhere when it was popular.

Even if I was still into the old linkin park I would say everything after meteora was terrible.

And although all the tunes sound similar, I don't know, I feel like that's what gives them their sound.

True. Everyone likes some shitty music some more than others. I still don't get the obsession with lady gaga, probably never will. Sometimes I enjoy throwing on those drive station when I'm on a road trip for a few mellow mainstream songs that I would normally consider shitty.

It just all depends on the mood I guess.

Now i just gonna make this clear. I amm not some little emo asain, who wears guyliner, skinny jeans and vans everywhere crying.

I enjoy pretty much every genre of music.

I just listened to linkin's new album, and now im a die hard Linkin park fan, i have listened to their stuff since the 4th grade(apparently 2000 is when their first album came out) and i cant say that i like the new album because they have drifted so far away from what got them famous in the first place like somewhere i belong and numb, those were truely some of their greatest songs, so why would they drift so far away from that?

Im not saying making all songs screamo, but at least put more than just one song on the new album, honestly the catalyst is their only good song or what some what sounded like true linkin park.

i mean just like the op, i had such high aspirations for this new album to be better than the last album, but they just keep digging themselves deeper with all the stupid filler songs, like seriously, wtf is will all of the 30 second filler songs? but i wanted this album to be so much better, im listening to it a second time through just in case i missed something, but its just the same old junk i heard last time.

anyway, thats my two cents, ROLL WIT IT

 
Read a book if you want derive meaning from something. Music, like that is produced by Linking Park, is designed to be catchy and appealling, not meaningful. For instance, I love Rage Against the Machine even though I am slightly conservative, and I know plenty of other moderates who listen to their music that simply disregard the ultra-liberal meanings of their songs to hear the awesome guitar riffs that they have.
 
guyz, I'm sad that Creed hasn't put out a good album lately. At least Nickelback got back together. Finally a band with some substance!
 
I missed your post. It's a conceptual album. Listen to all the songs in order, they tie together and it creates a message. It takes a while to digest.
 
are you shattin' me? linkin park is still coming out with albums and people still listen to that horrible shit. that fucking sucks.
