Line Ski pole grips

so I brought a beat up pair of line ski poles for the grips but I'm having a tuff time getting them off does anybody know how to get these off easily

unscrew the phillips head screw on the top and take off the plastic grab tab piece, then place the grip in boiling water...should slide off fairly easily
