Hey NS,Looking at some bacons. I am 5'8.5" 140lbs and ski fairly aggressively. I currently ride some 178 chronics and don't have a problem with the length. I think stepping up to the 184 would be a good choice because the bacons have a fair amount of rocker and more length would mean more stability when pushing them hard. Let me know what you think!

K+ for responses

if you can handle the bigger size go for 184. there is a lot of rocker and there a soft ski. if you an aggressive skier and like to charge you'll need the bigger size for more flotation, stability, and to keep the tips from diving.

The bacons are a much bigger ski compared to te chronics so take that into consideration. I'm 6'2" and comfortably ride 180 pow skis. It's up to you but I would probably go with the smaller ski. What type of terrain are you riding? Pow? Groomers? That would also be something to think about

Definitely get the 184 if it's going to be a pow ski. The bacons ski really short, especially if you're close to center mounted. I'm 5'9" and I just got the 185 Opus (haven't ridden them yet). Also, I ride 176 blends every day so I'm right around the same thing as you.

id say 178. my brother is about your size and thought 184 was too big. It depends on your style but IMO slightly shorter > slightly longer. Im 6 foot and ride a 178 blend without any problems btw

Its more personal preference and how well you can flop your skis around. Being a racer I can get good edges on just about any ski and control bigger. I'm 6'0" and I have the 178 bacon an I think it is way to short, I tried a 186 and a 192 in different skis and I like the added stability in the 192 and I'm gonna buy a pair of 192 bentchetlers next season, and it am using them for everyday skiing my one week a year I go out west. So given your options 178 and 184 aren't that big of a difference. I would go with the 184 if I were you!

Thanks all for the responses. I will mostly be using them on groomers and a little bit of fresh (next season) on the east coast and the occasional west trip. Reason I think I want to jump up is because they have a lot more rocker than chronics.
