LIne from K2???

Yeah its fun how well its hidden from plain view but K2 purchased Line back in 2006. The Line brand continues on as a unit within K2. I think it worked out pretty well, K2 had great manufacturing facilities and experience, Line provided a new direction in skiing that K2 needed. Full Tilt is also a K2 unit.
 
I'm pretty sure Marker is under Volkl with Tecnica, but they have worked out a deal with K2.

Great marketing on K2's part, the only part of skiing that K2 isn't in is racing.
 
^Maybe. Nowadays with all the "binding system skis" there's sooo much more overlap with ski companies and bindings companies it's nuts.

All I know is at work when I had to call k2 to ship us pro forms (pro form claimmmm) the operator asked me if I was calling for a k2, line, or maker product.
 
Yeah. I'm assuming that K2 has worked out a deal with Volkl/Marker. I know for sure Marker and Volkl are partners or Volkl owns Marker. So I'm sure a Schizo product would be something you would call that same number for. That's weird though.
 
doesn't k2 own volkl? and that was why they stopped making race skis? i dont know this just what i heard
 
technically line has full tilt and k2 has line but its been like that since they came out like 3 years ago
 
Hmmm... That's true about FTs and it would be cool to see them in more places. If K2 does own Volkl, then that makes perfect sense and there would be no need for race skis from K2. If that is true then K2 is a dynasty: K2, Volkl, LINE, Marker, Tecnica, and Full Tilt. Six good brands from one company.
 
I honestly dislike this kind of conglomeration. I think it eliminates your competition by buying them out because you just so happen to have a better network of dealers.....

Then all your skis are made in the same factory and one company ends up making 37 brands of skis (Elan....), or your company picks up and moves to China because of lower wages, pollute as much as they want, and why employ Americans to buy your products, when you can just fire them, and ask them to buy your product with unemployment money (that doesn't fucking work, but it seems to be every corporation in America's idea....hey your decent manufacturing job, gone! go make $8 an hour at mcdonalds and please still buy our awesomely overpriced products"

I dislike the out sourcing of jobs.

that company also owns thinks like crockpot and various other things that have nothing to do with skiing at all
 
Line is a great company all on its own and regardless of the fact that k2 owns it, they are very creative in their ski designs (Spec and Topsheet). They are made in the same factory, but don't share the same materials, you can tell which skis are made in which company by the way the length and serial umber are pasted on the side wall of the ski (Left side under heel) but in no way does it mean that they will be the same ski. K2 doesn't do the Macroblock Core Construction on their skis, Symmetric Flex (Pre Disorderly), or Fatty Base & Edge. Its a simple as i can explain. The fact that they are made in china is only so they can keep cost down, and most skiers like ourselves who are tight on cash are able to afford some great skis.
 
Yeah

K2 owns Line, Crockpot, Dirt Devil, a trout farm, 3 McDonald's franchises, and they have a large stake in Doc Johnson dildo's.

at the bottom you can see some companies.. they also own a company that makes fishing gear, thats why thay make such cheap carbon poles..

the whole thing about k2 owning marker i dont know about that..
 
K2 Sports, not K2 Skis, operates the LINE brand as well as some other rad brands! Its all good, we don't have people from Crock Pot making our decisions. The guy who started LINE in his garage 15 years ago still makes all the decisions.

K2 doesnt have race skis in the US, but I know that at least a year or two they still were in the race scene overseas, just like how salomon raceing isnt really in the US anymore.
