Line ep pro vs line opus

The ep pro (SFB) will do better all mountain on like groomers, hardpacked, park etc. But it still will do great in deep snow. The Opus is better in deep snow but is still good in all mountain. So if you were lookingfor more of an all mountain/pow ski get the bacons. Or if you were looking a deep pow ski I would go opus. But you still could get the Bacons and be fine.

Two totally different skis. The opus is stiffer, especially in the tails. It has more sidecut which gives it alot more effective edge on hardpack. Less dramatic rocker which gives it more actual running surface and adds to the more effective edge. It's more directional due to the sidecut, stiffer tails, asymmetrical rocker (more in the tips). It still rips switch but it's far more stable going forward outside of the pow than the ep pro. Carves so much better. I also think the versatility is leaps and bounds better than ep pro. If you don't mind the width you really can rock groomers all day on the opus and love it.
I for one never actually was a fan of the ep pro. It was fun in deep pow but outside that it was too chattery for me. If I were building the perfect quiver, I would def have a touring setup on last years ep pros as a deep days/backcountry only ski. Right now though it's tough to justify that kind of setup. I think that's the case for alot of people, hence lines decision to redesign and shoot for something super versatile. I've had the opus for a while now and it's constantly impressing me. I have yet to run it through deep deep pow as I got em late last season but that's what they're made for and I'm sure they'll excell. So far they remind me of an even better version of last years bacons. I loved those and skied them everywhere...even park. I kept thinking how sick a ski they would be if they were a little wider with a touch of sidecut. Then I saw the opus and it's exactly what I wanted. And yes it skis exactly like I had imagined. Line has outdone themselves and I'm really not sure how they can top this for next year shy of new graphics. Also of note is the new bacons. I initially wrote em off. Then all my buds were telling me how sick they were. So now I'm getting a pair of those as well. They are even more versatile and are supposed to slay park. Hope that helps.

i was thinking the same thing about the two skis, i looove my ep pros, rode them for 2 seasons now, but on the new promo vid for the opus its almost like eric slates his previous models?! no doubt the opus would be sick but line dont really have a redic soft pow ski anymore that i love and that made line kinda different from so many other brands, even though i kinda do want the opus, il be sticking to my 09/10 eps for another season fo sho!

I gotta disagree with ya slightly. Seems like everyone is makin a super floppy pow ski these days. I actually think the redesign was lines way of staying unique. If ya get a chance to demo the opus this year I'd highly recommend it, if for no other reason than to see how different it is. I honestly think that come next season everyone is going to be scrambling to replicate the opus. It's going to seriously redefine a "one ski quiver" and much like the lizzies, the opus is going to be talked about as a "game changer" ski for a long time.

do you not think there is already alot of stiffer b/c "jib" skis out there such as the benchetlers, chopsticks. it kinda seems to me thats they've eliminated the ep pros and just put the SFB's on steroids, to me the ep pro was never supposed to be versatile, is was a pow specific bc playful jib ski that was never designed to be much good on hardpack.

2012 Opus - camber underfoot, narrower than EP, slightly different shape characteristics, stiffer than EP

2011 EP - Camber added underfoot, shortened rocker profile, slightly stiffer than 2010 EP

2010 EP - original design, but slightly stiffer

2009 and older EP - original, soft as shit, poppy and awesome

In my opinion, the original EP is the funnest thing I have ever been on, but they don't like going super fast. If you like jibbing pow, they are the only ski you want. Unless your a fat ass.

i had the original ep pro's and it was the most fun ive ever had on a pair of skis. so insanely fun in powder. even charged really well when you learned how to ski them. being able to do legit nose butters off windlips and stuff in deep powder (like actually flexing the ski and popping out of it, not just doing a 180 and leaning forward and calling it a "butter) is awesome. plus i swear they were the poppiest skis ive ever ridden, and fun all over the mtn including park.

the opus, i didnt care for. its a ski that performs really well, but other than that, its not fun or different from the 10 other similar powder skis that perform well. the camber underfoot completely ruins that fun poppy, surfey slashey feel that the originals have, im not buying a fucking 120 waist powder ski to be "versitile and rip groomers" i want it to perform well in powder, not groomers, sorry thats completely pointless to me. plus the originals did rip groomers well, rocker is fun as hell on hardpack, yeah they chattered a lot but if you want a groomer ski you should probably be looking at something more narrow.

i really wish they'd bring the original back. the bacon is a perfect versitile, do everything ski, its pointless to make the opus the same. keep the ep pro/opus a pow only fun as fuck ski.
