I just purchased a pair of brand new 2012 Line Chronics, with Marker Squire Schizos, and FT Drop Kicks, i wanted to know if the size i got for my Chronics (173cm) is good for me

Height: 5' 11''

Weight: 145lbs

Skill: Intermidiate

Terrain: 70% park, 30% all-mountain

Please i need advice on the ski size before the bindings are mounted and if you could give me some more insight to the set up ive chosen, its quality and how you believe it will perform.

-Thanks to all who reply

Center mount those bad boys. They will be a good size for you. I was 5'10" when I had my 173s and I had them centered. Skiied real well.

Did you ski similar terrain as me? i'm a bit worried they'll be a bit lengthy to swing and swap up on rails

Theyll definitely take getting used to if you are accustomed to using rentals. They will feel and look long for a while, but they are a very good ski size for your height and terrain you will be using them in.

ok i hope you're right, any idea on the amount of days it will take, im hitting my local hills as soon as my schools ski club starts 5 times, btw +10k for u :)

As long as you convince yourself they arent longer than you think they are, itll be just a few times before you are used to them.

I'm 5'8 and just got the 2013 chronically in a 178. If I were you hight I'd go for a bigger set of sticks. But it's all preference go with what you would be more comfortable on.

I'm a similar size, 5'9 and 140lbs and i rode the 178 a bunch last week, its a fun ski, I definitely wouldn't go shorter. But as mentioned they have a little early rise now.

i guess that goes to show how much i know, thanks for the help guys, once again anyone with a 173 chronic please send me ur feedback as to how the ski rides in the park

At 5'11" I would have gotten the 178 or even 183 instead, especially now that they have rocker.

My mounting advice is 1.5 cm back from true center. They aren't symmetrical skis so they are not designed to be center mounted.

i got the 2012 versions so the rocker (or early rise) isnt so intense, i think ill be fine cuz ill prob grow over 6 feet tall knowing my genetics, and what is the reasoning behind ur mountain advice?

I'm 5'10 and use a 169 k2 domain, I know many people would think they are too small but I love them because I can throw them around no problem and they hold up fine on big jumps, a 173 should be perfect I would say

IMPORTANT: can you guys tell me how u think the squire schizos will play out with the chronics, are they any good? pros cons?

i got the 2012/2013 chronics but im 5'6 and i have 164"s with marker griffon shizos, there cnetered and i love them!

i have the 2011 chronics (w/o rocker) and i have them center mounted and they're amazing, but a bit too small for me. i'm 5'11" and 190. i'm now rocking rossi scimitar 184 since i've bulked up quite a bit lol

i'm still going to use the chronics for park though, 4 cm isnt that much of a difference really

you'll be fine, 178 wouldn't even have been too long, if anything i think you may feel the 73 will feel short. It's a rockered ski, you're supposed to ski them longer. You'll love the chronic, it's a beast ski this year.

No, they are regular camber and slightly stiffer too. You'll be fine on 173, especially if you are more or less just starting out. mount them centre with the option to go back (since you said you have schizos). NS isn't big on reading or thinking, just don't overthink it and have a good season.

first of all + karma too all! Second what do u think about the squire schizos Twig, if you know about them ofc

I ski 174's and im 5"9, its never a problem on rails (also grabs come easier i guess) and for shredding all mountain its definitely better than short skis

In general i think the schizo thing is a bit of a gimmick. Sure it is kind of useful to be able to adjust your mounting point but pretty much nobody ever actually bothers, they find a point they like and leave it alone. I haven't ridden them but generally opinion on here is they aren't worth the extra cash.

Squires feel pretty flimsy to me, its not a binding I would trust but I do know some people who ride them on pretty large stuff, we have a 70ft or so kicker here in Saas which friends on Schizos hit regularly and never seem to have a problem.

he was right about schizo's. day 1 last season i moved them all the way forward and they never went back. i guess you can think of them as a sort of insurance if you're not sure where you want to mount and how they'll ski. anyway this years chronic i have at 178 and i measured them at 175 tip to tip. i'm 5'7 150
