Line chronic buttering/nollies

I was looking at the line chronics and was thinking about picking it up, how does it hold up for durability and if I attempt nose butters or nollies will I catch an edge and from flip?

This is like asking "if i try a front 4 will i land sideways and fall?" Depends on you, not your gear. I've never ridden chronics but I highly doubt that they're as durable as arvs, on3ps etc. However, they're probably fine for you. I skied Line Masterminds when i was learning park back in 2014 (even less durable) and they were fine for me at the time.

Nose butters... on a line chronic?

Did they entirely change the ski this season or is this guy just clueless lol?

OP I rode last years... Very fun/wide for buttering, but I would still avoid due to durability. Didn't last me long from mellow riding.... checkout armada or something

to clarify i mean when i'm doing nollies on a roller if I the tip will catch

ohhh I get what you're saying

I had this problem with vishnus when I first got them cause the tips were so much lower than my old skis. you just have to focus on actually pressing off of the noses of your skis and not just dipping them down. Much more proper nollie anyways.

if you're trying to learn nose butters I would check out vishnus, I don't use them as my daily river anymore but I've found that the butter skills I mastered on my Vs I've been able to translate over to stiffer skis

I just picked up some Chronics. I did a few nollies so far, no problem. They wouldn’t be my first pick for purely focusing on buttering but they can do it. I’ve pulled one or two quick butters on them but I’ve only ridden them for about 3 hours so far.

The one thing that sticks out to me about them is the pop. Generous pop (at least compared to my last skis)

Wasn’t there a period where they were just pure camber, stiff planks?

I remember a guy I worked with had 2009 line blends and I was shocked at how stiff they were compared to the current ones

full cumber of course but lots of their skis were wicked soft, hard to judge though cause I feel like flex standards were different back then. I know one of my buddies had skogens and they could bend into a C shape

original blends definitely used to be stiffer, heavier, but also much more durable. They weren't really a park ski, designed more for all mountain. When line introduced "thin tip" technology that's when all of their skis started snapping. It made their skis lighter but durability suffered.

The 2018 chronic with the black base, chronic in orange is IMO the stiffest chronic, least taper and was good for butters of your strong and had some weight to you, the newer ones are much softer.

im still using my 2018s, when I pick them up , smack em together they are solid, the newer ones feel “cheaper” holding in your hand and when u drop em on the ground they rattle, if u can pick up at seasons end for $299-349 go for it, otherwise get an On3p.
